Number one reason to send a car to OMGjon - invaluable experience learned.

Restoring a Dino is much more than bolting parts onto a chassis. Probably not immediately obvious but a huge amount of time is spent on the whole trial-and-error process; install, fitment, adjusting, removal, small tweek, re-install, ... lather, rinse, repeat

Jon has been ab absolute joy to work with. I have restored a number of other cars and I swore that I would never do it again. He has given me hope that there are still guys out there who do this for the love of the cars. His workmanship is Pebble Beach quality. As time passes in my opinion his restored Dino's will be as revered as a Paul Russel restored Gullwing.

Great color, great results, and as long as Sarge gives his approval, everybody should be thrilled. Great job again Jon.

Just amazing, might be my new favorite car. Unreal. I would be afraid to drive it, just park her in the living room and admire your work.

Since this is a Euro spec, shouldn't it have 3-point belts? What style would be correct for this body number? Static? Retractable?

Excellent journey, gorgeous craftsmanship and color combo!

Jon probably knows the best test roads but when I lived in Carlsbad I found a nice route for the Dino by following the Motorcyclists. Exit I-15 at Pomerado Rd, go East then take the first left at Highland Valley Road and enjoy the next 10 miles. This is a great circuit for the Dino with much of it in 3rd Gear.

    Shawn, enjoy the drive!

Very close to home for my Sat morning 6AM runs, especially with the loud Tubi on my Dino - you've heard it.

One Saturday morning at 6AM I was ripping through Highland Valley Road enjoying the twists and turns in that nice scenic transition from the Coast to the Desert. The road curves are just great for the Dino so I was driving enthusiastically. I headed to Ramona for a breakfast burrito at a favorite place and upon my return decided to turn off 67 so I could run Highland Valley back the other way.

Two motorcyclists coming at me waved me down to stop me and they warned me. They said the cops had stopped everybody on the road beacuse apparently "somebody" had been making a LOT of noise driving that route earlier and the locals had called the cops.

I found a different route home.
From then on, I ran Highland Valley only one way :)

Photo of Left turn onto Highland Valley, lots of bikes run it

Thoughts On Dino Day (Day 1):

Sorry for the delays in posting, but I had posted something and it went haywire, because of using a system in a Hotel... :)

Our family finally made it to CA, partially for a family vacation, and partially for seeing the Dino.

Between my family schedule and Jon's schedule, it just didn't seem to mesh for the last couple of months. This was mainly on my end, I wanted to make a family trip possible, and this had to be juggled.

We flew out a couple of days before Columbus Day. Went to Disneyland and did cool stuff in LA. We did several awesome things, but on of my favorites was visiting RetroSpecs....

This sounds odd, but, I love this concept and love what they do - If you are one who wears glasses, this is such an great store to orient your self with. They take old glasses and redo them. They also restore frames you might have.

The glasses I wear daily, I bought from them back in the early 2000's. The frames are from the mid 1920's and they fit modern prescription lenses to these frames. I bought the frames from them. I also have a pair of Ray Ban Aviators, from the late 30's/early 40's (Military issue) that they helped me with, I dropped them off for some minor lens modification.

I was also pretty excited to take my Great Grandfathers glasses by to see if they could re-condition and set lenses to my eye, and was super excited about the process.

All of this sounds silly, but it has ALWAYS AMAZED ME ABOUT THE QUALITY OF THINGS YEARS PAST!

Leaving LA, I headed down south towards San Diego.

On the way, I past Oceanside. I remembered seeing this name several times over the years and knew it was the running grounds of Tom Shaugnessy.

I am not one to show up unannounced, but figured I would cruise by and see what was going on.

Tom wasn't there, but his assistant opened up the doors and let me look around. What a cool place. Lot's of eye candy to stare at.

The funniest part, as I left, I called OMGJON, and he said he had just left and was on his way back home.

As fate would have it, as I was looking at Shaughnessy's second shop, his assistant, Mike, drove me across the street. OMGJON literally drove up in the 15 minutes we weren't there.

Jon was on his way back to his shop, and I was following shortly behind....

We spent some good times talking about general stuff and fun Dino stuff.....

The next morning, the greatest fun was to come....
