Well, IF the last rumor is to be given "some credit" (I say "IF"...) R.G took the right decision to leave Lotus because...Renault is said to be tired negociating in vain with Lopez about the Lotus debt and SUPPOSED to be now looking at Red Bull instead, as Mateschitz could be persuaded to sell... Ferrari is SUPPOSED to have agreed a deal for supplying 2015 engines to Toro Rosso next year, but Red Bull does not want the 2015 Ferrari engine. So Bernie is desperately trying to persuade Mercedes to change its mind and supply its engine to Red Bull after all, but Toto Wolff is adamant they will not... Hearsay? No smoke without fire? Rgds Rgds
Well, if Renault can buy RB for less than the price of Lotus + some debt write off, I'll be impressed… As for the RB engine BS - who cares? I wouldn't miss them from the grid. Not even for one minute. Come on Bernie - time to earn your fee. Time to work some magic to save the sinking ship...
Already in Raikkonen's time, Lopez has been starving the team of funds, and accumulated the debts in the hope that the next buyer would take them over. Kimi had to settle for less than his contract to be released, apparently, and since, Lotus has been walking a tightrope, avoiding creditors. After all, that is the business of Genii to buy assets and companies, redress them and pocket a profit when they sell them. Lopez is not interested in investing in Lotus for the long term. I don't know why Renault was interested in Lotus in the first place. Apparently, they know very well (from prior ownership of the team), the installations at Enstone, and would like to have them back. But what they consist of, these precious installations, I have no clue.
engines are the problem? Let's see....now where could we get a big boat load of engines at a discount...... "Ladies and Gentlemn, F1 is proud to announce FORMULA VW DIESEL IN 2016!!!"
Looks like a good session. Lots of testing and evaluation. No new data on Red Bull and their motor saga. I hope Williams continue to be strong!
I eagerly await: "The ass boys have really done a good job getting the most from the rear end and, with them behind me, I know we'll put in a strong drive to get to the front." All the best, Andrew.
red flag. Waiting to hear about his condition as team have no contact with Sainz due to loss of power. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
What the heck happened that caused him to hit the barrier with that much force? The BBC footage showed damage to the barriers on the left wall before the corner so it looks like he had been having a crash for quite some distance along the track. I've only just tuned in and saw the red flag, so missed any potential footage of the actual incident. All the best, Andrew.
Hope he's OK and the barriers avoided hitting him on the head. The car looks really enveloped by the barrier. All the best, Andrew.
