Auto tranny car...looks nice...owner refused to sell for $21,500
Why would anyone pay to have their Sports Car ( Ferrari, Porsche, Etc) run through Mecum when their buyers are only there to buy Muscle Cars and Pickup Trucks and have no interest in Foreign cars.
for $23,500. Wish I had been there! Did you see the 2001 (I think) MB 600SL that went for $8750? Or the 2003 SL500 that went for about $9K. Did I mention that I wish I was there? How about the 1984 Corvette that went for $2750. Damm....I wish I was there! Sid
I know, once i watched the tape from the auction-damn, I wish i would have been there, for the F and the 600SL
It pays to be able to do your due diligence at any auction, but particularly a Mecum auction. It is likely that none of those prices was a "bargain".
Oh my, where should I start? I have a laundry list of Exotics I have sold at Mecum auctions over the last 28 years. We even set two (Still standing) world records for Italian wood boats, Riva for $775k and $1Mm back in 2010 and 2011. As recent as last month in Dallas we sold a 2003 Ferrari 360 Spider F1 tranny for $120k hammer. They have the buyers for everything. Did you see the Lamborghini Miura sold in Monterey? $2.3MM Or my Countach for $385k?
Unless I am mistaken, the Mecum car is headed for Europe - Belgium. Now for sale at 49,980 ($57,000). S/N 38983. A lot of ex US cars are for sale in Europe - not surprising given the apparent economics. Ferrari 400 i 4.8i Automaat V12
Yes, I know these guys, I've bought some cars from them a couple of years ago. A lot of European dealers are importing Italian cars from the US.
