Not to be disrespectful; but I dont think youre following the thread.
I am asking what the price of the carbon race seats themselves were, not the option of covering them in leather or fabric for the center part.

Post #13 only shows as I believe the cost of upholstery, not the cost of the carbon race seats.
Just think about it....would 2 fully carbon race seats by that low compared to some leather carbon trim???

No, that is the option price for the seats, not for upholstering, and I followed the thread pretty well while you seem to have problems reading an option list. Why would they put an upholstery price in an option sheet? Those prices are for CF seats with cloth centers, which I have never seen, and for all leather CF seats.

Now you think about it, that price is the difference between the standard seats and the CF racing seats. The CF seats probably actually cost Ferrari less than the standard seats with all their electrical adjustments and seat ECU, but it is a good way for Ferrari to make extra money.

Same seats for the 575M were quite a bit more expensive, but that option price list is nearly 20 years old.

Okay thanks for that info. I stand corrected.
That was very helpful, indeed i had issues understanding the options list. Your initial comment of just reading #13 was a bit short to understand what to read, but your explanation clarifies it all.

I think my misunderstanding resulted from having read that ordering the carbon race seats now in parts would cost $20,000, so I was surprised to see the option being relatively cheap but that ofcourse it the price difference between the standard seats and the race seats.

    Thanks for the info!

And thank you for adding it, btw! I've been loving your car since I bought it. I am still aware of my obligation to send you pics; it's been crazy around here. I will getting some pics of my 456M GT (to put it up for sale) and will probably shoot some of the 550 at the same time.

No problem. Some of the options, like the carbon fiber trim, are very affordable if ordered as an option, but prohibitively expensive to buy as separate parts. Plus prices have escalated rapidly since the late 90s. The paint to sample and out of range paint options now would run 5-6 times what they cost then. Way higher than inflation would indicate.

Just bought these original Barchetta 18inch modular wheels.
I had to sell one of my kidneys for it, but totally worth it!

....maybe helpful, the German Scaglietti price list, dated 14.09.1999. Even if already nearly completely equipped by the factory, there where still some customise options. The prices of Racing seats covered (central part) in fabric or connolly leather differes just by 220 Euros, so most customers seem's to having choosen the all leather option.
