My friend bought this special 575 from Tom Hartley and the sale manager Gary Tolson is not very honest. My friend bought the car on trust after a clear description that the car condition was excellent. When he receive the car, he found out that dashboard was damage plus others defects. Did anybody have also bad experience with Tom Hartley in England ? Why people take advantage when you trust them ? Then, the morale is NEVER TRUST A CAR DEALER and ask a Ferrari official report Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
That is standard dash pull - by UK law you have give Hartley the chance to fix it - if not have it done & sue him
How did your friend not see this before he parted with his money? Very odd. I've bought before from Gary/Tom and they're fine. It's a business. But if you want a top class firm, with passion, go with Joe Macari. I recently purchased a big ticket item from them, went to them directly from seeing the car on their website and they were absolutely brilliant to deal with. A business for sure, but I found them passionate, straight talking and honest. Joe is terrific, Louis just the best.
Nice spec early 575M , Did your friend export the car out of England making the logistics of fixing the issue difficult ?
I wish you had post about this car earlier...see my PM and you can also ask 550Barchetta about it We both have had the same experience/view about that silver car...
Why are you posting this rather than your friend? Why didn't he inspect the car before purchasing it? Sounds like he has some blame here.
Is the car for sale because of the issues? https://www.classicdriver.com/de/car/ferrari/575/2002/337605
I wonder if this was actually a trade sale ie retailer to retailer Increasingly it seems there are traders and/or restorers and/or mechanics coming here disguised as individuals (some even with multiple identities)
That car was for sale for some time at TH. However, you could see from their photos that the was a dashboard leather issue and that there was a missing cavallino on the harness.... I also thought that I could detect some difference in the paint on the front wing vs. the passenger door... So perhaps not a mint example but the wheels and sports seats/roll bar are desireable options (harness, not so much IMO) so their c.£70k ask didn't seem to be excessive. You may need to pay more for true excellence in the current market...
Difficult issue, the dashboard shrinkage is already visible on the pictures in the internet. Was the car not inspected prior to the purchase? On almost all of the offered Maranellos you'll see some defects already at the first glance at the pictures, even if most off them are offered as brand new condition, perfect or better than new, note 1 or anything more superior. Especially italian examples are very often "enthusiastically" described (my personal expirience...☺! Saluti, Jürgen
Benmou, is there more to this story than some dash leather and a cavallino, both easily detectable by the most cursory photography or a ten second personal inspection? Neither of those (which is all you mention) justifies your potentially libellous accusation of dishonesty. I'm not a car dealer but any reasonable buyer would be expected to note those before purchase. Are there other issues you haven't mentioned? Your post and your profile don't tell us much. If not, I would be pretty annoyed if I were Tom Hartley (with whom I have had no dealings) because this is potential libel and that's a big deal in the UK, wherever you are based. Completely agree with Camlet about Joe Macari. The most professional, dedicated, passionate dealer I have met. But I suspect Macari would never have sold that car. As they say in south London, you pays your money, you makes your choice..
