Perez deal is for one year, perfect. That is leaving the door open since there will be a lot
of movement for 2017 and Honda PU should start behaving and possibly be in more cars.
The 2016 silly season is going to be a wild one for sure...

Wish they'd just get on with it!......

Sounds like Lettuce is getting one seat. No idea on the other, although I'd love to see JB go there - Masses of experience that could really help them I feel. Although he may have had enough of trundling round at the back......

    Cheers,
    Ian

Word seems to be Button is going to try a spot of Rallying. Having seen the interview from yesterday, I'm convinced he's going to leave. Sad end to a solid career, trundling around the back in a pathetic car.

Lettuce I think is dependand on what the hell renault is doing, presumably Haas wants conformation by Monday. I've got a hunch that JEV will be back. Plenty of experience, currently at Ferrari and Haas will get Ferrari engines of course. That or Gutierrez, though I'd rather have JEV.

    Really? Haven't heard that before.

    +1

Maybe a WEC drive with his old buddy Mark?

Not sure on JEV - Seems like a decent enough chap, but a "team leader"? I'm not so sure.

Gutierrez? Don't see much upside there.

JB & young Alex Rossi would be awesome; the former could be a great "mentor" for the lad.......

Guess we'll know by the middle of next week.......

    Cheers,
    Ian

Twas the first for me too, and a bit strange! Of course his dad did rally, and there's not so much pressure on one with rallying.
Seems the most logical place for me...Hulk not commited yet to Porsche next year IIRC

Me neither, but they want someone with experience, which rules GP2 boys out
Might play well to the mexican folk, but then again they also went against Rossi...
Agreed, but don't see the upside for Button much...I have serious doubts that the team will be even remotely competitive, I may be a bit european elitist right now but teams like Caterham and Manor tried and failed for long enough, and look at Sauber even...so many yearrs in the business, Ferrari engines and barely able to score a point!

And some earlier claims (title bid in 3 years?!) seems to me they have a lack of understanding...

So was, in his days, Nico Hulkenberg (he actually thought he would...)
So was, this summer, Valterii Bottas (it seems that he too thought that he actually would...)

In twelve months from now, lots of things will have changed...calm down, I for myself would really be surprised if this happens.

True. They need experienced jockeys who have good testing feedback credentials. Year 1 for Haas is not about winning anything, it's about development and testing, so the driver choice should reflect that IMHO.

    GeneHaas1Howdy race fans.

Gene Haas here, speaking to you from the United States of Hell Yeah. As y’all surely know, I’m spending every hour our dear lord sweet baby Elvis done send preparing my entry to the 2016 Formulation One world series. You better believe, we is gonna serve some home fried European lilywhite asses on a plate.

So that’s the catering taken care of, but y’all might be wonderin’ what ol’ Gene here is gonna do about drivers. Well, son, don’t you worry. This ain’t my first rodeo. I’ve been over 50,000 times and they promise to let me back in if I stop firin’ my gun at the signs. Hell, I digress.

Haas Formuliser One is a team as all American as Bud Light, baseball and fourteen pounds of possum meat in the western sector of my refrigerator. That’s why I’m proud to announce that my first driver signing is Ro-Main Growjeans from Franceland.

People say, Gene, why in God’s sweet name are you gonna let an unshaven, soft cheese communist into your righteous racing machine? Well, let me tell you, it was that or an Andretti. And ol’ Gene ain’t as dumb as the test results say.

You guys are just gonna have to trust me on this one, just as my half brother Bobby-Lee trusted me that when I said the pistol wasn’t loaded and, hell, he still got half his head don’t he?

Here at Haas Formulated One headquarters in the beautiful American state of Warwickshire, Englandland, we are now at full steam, largely thanks to a special importation of my patented burnin’ racoons in the steam machine. Smells like goddam freedom.

Let me tell you, our all-American dream machine is gonna fly thanks to its goddam spaghettihead engine and that garlic ****er at the wheel. I hope you pansy ass, tea lickin’, underpants-wearin’ European homo folks like the Star Spangled Banner cuz you’s gonna be hearing it a lot. That’s what the in-pit marching band is for.

Get ready to feel some deep fried American justice, Formulurisation One. Cuz as my daddy used to say; son, you sure put the ass in Haas.

Sources here say that the deal between Renault and Lotus is still "far from being agreed"...

(Stumbling point is still the debt, that Renault does not want to pay; they believe that the debt has to be taken care of by Lopez/Genii, and that he has enough money to do this)
