Italian authorities raided Lamborghini's headquarters today in connection with the investigation of Volkswagen and the possibility of Lamborghini rigging emission tests as well.

Let's see what the investigation concludes, then we'll have the answer.

As far as the owners of Classic Lamborghinis are concerned, it makes not one iota of difference one way or the other.

Just one more "possible" reason a pre Audi Lamborghini is going up in value..pending the outcome of this investigation,.,,,as well as any and all publicity it generates.

This is an Italian version of a German bailout.

  8. You never know. I guess one possibility is that Lamborghini might have assisted. I really doubt it though. If Lamborghini had a current diesel offering, the chances would be higher. It all makes me wonder about Audi.

The 12 noon newscast from Deutsche Welle television in Germany that I watched today had a discussion on it's news channel. It has nothing to do with diesels, but the presumption of, if the parent Company can try to fool Government authorities, gas powered vehicles are under suspicion as well, and as far as Lambo is concerned, you never know if VW in Germany gives the nod on something that it shouldn't. All I really care about is " hit the GO FAST button" and have fun !

Is anyone even slightly surprised? The cars shoot fireballs in stock form.

    My moneys on this.

Manufacturers are manipulating the software to where they all pass fuel consumption and emissions on test stands, not just Diesels, then when on the open road & WOT the software becomes a free for all and who cares about emissions, lets get the max power we can and impress the car mags and S.O.T.P feel.

You're going to see that VW was just the 1st one that got caught!

I've had modded turbo cars that have done this, and no cat in place and still passed a rolling emissions test.

Are far as: "then when on the open road & WOT the software becomes a free for all and who cares about emissions"

Neither the US FED or CARB test high speed, hard acceleration, WOT, heavy loads or cold engine errands. And WOT is typically open loop operation of the FI software so the engine is surely in a "free for all" mode and may "shoot fireballs" - but so what. Taking CARB, they just want emissions to be controlled under typical / most common driving conditions - which makes sense since that accounts for the majority of emissions and will give them the biggest bang for our buck. But that's the area VW fudged and lied about which is why everyone is pissed off. Having software detect lack of steering input to alter the engine emissions is pretty crafty.

I had a (first year of production) brand new Gallardo that couldn't pass the state emissions test right after delivery.

LOL the Twice Baked Bull first burned thanks to a header gasket failure due to being so hot, leaned way out to pass emmissions way back when in 74. stock config would not pass.

Today was more diesel cars with 1 very specific gas car and involved fuel economy - and they note that none are in the US: VW's emissions scandal spreads to gas-powered cars
