Why does the King of Spain have a UAE special edition FF? Those are Middle East spec and can easily be identified by the UAE flag emblem on the dash. Based on your photos above both cars are UAE edition. Perhaps that's why nobody wants to buy them in Spain? Care to explain?

I just read the article. Makes sense:

"Both were presents from UAE Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum following a visit by the Spanish monarch to watch a Formula 1 race in the country in November 2011"

It was a gift for the King JC I (grey car) and Corina (not his wife).

The story is funny, for who knows Spanish you can find some good articles.

We saw these cars at the factory when we were speccing our FF in 2011. Story told to us was that the customer had ordered 84 FFs (maybe partial explanation for how first year of production was sold out so fast), all custom colors and fitment. When I asked what one person would possibly do with that many FFs, the answer was that many would go to good friends and family as gifts. Nice to finally hear who the buyer was...All variants we saw on the line were quite stunning, sophisticated color combos.

What are the things that look like leather straps on the front of the grey one? I haven't seen these before.

I will try to post more pictures. I have also documentation cars.

That's quite a lovely gift to receive. They should have put them to higher use:).

Not sure if a ME spec car requires any extras to be legally driven in Europe. That might have put off some potential buyers. Then again, the asking price does not make them any bargain I think.

The cars are 2011 MY, so already out of warranty. They are non-EU spec so this might cause issue with registration in some countries (not sure about Spain).
People will be concerned about maintenance and parts as some parts are different for ME spec cars etc.
Also, for 2011 cars they are expensive. I get it, they very low mileage but you can buy a 2015 FF for that money. So ... why the premium? Just because they were parked in the royal garage? :)

I say send them back to UAE. We can use a couple more police cars :)

The silver car is for sale at Marshall Goldman in California. I was very close to buying it, but we couldn't quite put a deal together. It is a phenomenal car.

The color is Sabbia Al Tramonto (Sand at Sunset).

Regardless this is a great car. My only caution to a buyer (why I walked away) was that gulf cars have a speed alarm sensor that stays on above 75mph and it takes a lot of work to remove it.

Also being grey market, getting stuff covered by fna for warranty work might be hard and annoying.
