LA BBQ has moved into the trailer court on East 5th, not far from Franklin's.. Franklins has all the media buzz, but he apprenticed with the Muellers
Yep...looks like we've lost north Austin forever. It's become Dallas. Like they say at Evangeline Cafe, "Old Austin didn't die. It just moved south". Love me some Matt's, too...
+1 on Foreign & Domestic. It's a foodie's paradise. Also Odd Duck on South Lamar, and South Congress Cafe. However, I'm always unsure about whether to recommend these places to certain visitors. I'm not sure whether people visiting Austin want the high-end, foodie places (similar to what they might find in the "new trendy" neighborhoods in their own city) or whether they just want what Austin is famous for -- BBQ and TexMex. So, I'd agree with all the recommendations so far. Roaring Fork and Lambert's downtown are good too. I'd also add for BBQ Terry Black's on Barton Springs Rd. For Tex-Mex: Matt's El Rancho, Curra's, Maudie's (S Lamar), El Arroyo (5th Street), Z-Tejas, and Guero's (mostly for the margaritas and great location on South Congress). Regarding food at the track: I usually take the opportunity to get the state-fair style foot long corny dogs, or a turkey leg. Heck, you can't get them in a restaurant, so if you have the craving might as well go for it IMO. I've forked over some $$$ for a BBQ sandwich as well (don't remember which vendor), and it was OK if that's what you are craving, but not nearly as good as some of the fine BBQ spots in Austin. All the vendors in the permanent concession stands ("Rallye grille", etc) are pretty much just standard stadium type food... probably not worth your time. One exception: at Turn 1, there is Wild Bubba's which is a local Elroy restaurant. Good for wild-game themed burgers and sausages. Not to be confused with "Bubba burgers", which is also at the track but usually in a giant trailer, nothing special there just prepared versions of their supermarket burgers. There are usually a variety of local food trailers at the track. Burro Cheese Kitchen (grilled cheese/etc), is one that I like f1 2014 | Burro Cheese Kitchen

Remember, "pix or it didn't happen!" A little rain never hurt anything.... [Totally OT, but we could sure use some around where I live right now.] Cheers, Ian
The weather forecast here changes hourly. Where you are Ian all you need is a calendar. Mid October? Dry, sunny and cool.
I would not mind a wet race but you know that old saying about TX weather...."If you want it to change just wait a minute" and I hope the drainage issue has been previously addressed. Hopefully Ferrari will have something for the Mercedes this weekend.
Min. Age for these joints. My diaper carrier my be carded I move my garage thread to general stuff since I have been kicked off Rosa
Yeah, this is starting to sound like another Central Texas 'Big Rain Event'. FP1 is only 3 days away now and the rain forecasts have only intensified since last week, and have stayed consistently centered on Thursday through Monday. Now there are forecasts of 3-6 inches of rain in this system over that span.
