What a day rained out. At one point I could not see across the track. Started about 12:30. All track events stopped. Vintage ran under the yellow the hole time band that was before the real rain Photo. Tower

Very nice. I think the first and last best represent a photo from the 60's. But still a bit too shiny?

Took this a couple of weeks ago before coming back to 32" of snow and single digit temps now. I enjoy the fact that pics and memories can take your mind to a better place and time.

I need to get my camera out more often. And then get back here to share once in awhile. This was last fall sometime, was trying to get out in time to catch a nice sunset but missed the peak time by a few minutes. Grabbed this one instead.

Thanks! Here's one from Easter day. The Indian Peaks of the Continental Divide are in the background. I posted this in the pet thread too, but thought it might be good here.

Exhausted myself using LightRoom for pretty much the first time..

I thought it was going to be easy but it seemed to have a different mindset to me as to where my images were after import and how easy/hard it was to select them after in a sane and meaningful way..

Still I know these tools are used by so many.. so at another time I will re-invest some time to work it out..

Here's what I was wanting to do.. make an FB cover page montage selected from an album.

For those on FB here's my album from the past few years travels.. 300+ pics so way too many to post here.. so here's the link!

Woah Alex, I don't know what your 'day job' is but if you ever want a new direction I think a lot of professional photographers would be scared by your arrival on the scene. Amazing.

    Cheers and thanks!

Don't think going to scare any pros.. but it is a passion for sure.

Oddly enough my 'day job' (which is software) and photography are related.

My core first love is geography.. hence I love landscapes.. and through geography I got into a couple of degrees in Geophysics.. and through Geophysics introduced to software and been making a living sitting and typing and designing software ever since ;).. but the photography is a parallel interest.

With the coming of the internet it's so easy now to get inspiration and see the work of others.. and imaging technology itself has improved out of sight in under a decade.

I've always done stills but recently got the gear to do time-lapse and 360/panoramic and support from sites such as FB to share such panoramas in standard browsers is a real godsend for ease of sharing.

Got an aviation/action/underwater camera too now so hope can dip my toes in the water there and see how it works out!

In the past year or 2 been keeping a watching brief on drones and the quality of the cameras with filter options am used to having on the DSLR and the literal new vistas and perspectives they bring.. I'd only do remote most likely so not going to be an urban pest should I get one.

Anyway.. I find it addictive and it's a case of constant self criticism in the quest for incremental improvement.

My next big "frontier" is the world of post-processing.. all the images so far are in-camera and the montages above are first go in LightRoom and slightly rushed so not perfect borders or anything.. but by looking at world class photographers I realise investing the time in post processing is going to be needed to contemplate extracting more out of the scenes to show them in all their glory..

It's a process that never stops and it's very enjoyable and thanks again for liking them :)
