Thought it would be interesting to hear from owners who have some miles and report about mechanical problems.

    I'll start:

41,500 miles. Folding roof seal defect noted at 25,000 miles

What is considered high mileage? > 10k miles? Was there a water leak?

Good luck with your responses on this. I have 20,000 miles on my 2014 458 Italia in just over two years. The mileage on it has been curtailed by my purchase of a 991 Gt3 almost a year ago. No significant issues. After each track day (not during) I get an E-Diff recovery message which goes away upon restart. Message does not repeat till the day after another track day.

I've only had my 2013 Spider for 3 months (1500 miles driven), no issues. Sometimes when battery is low and on startup it stalls, I get an electrical message error that says take it to service immediately. But after re-start, message disappears. Seems pretty consistent when battery is low after not driving it for a week.

Doubt battery is low..2013...that is a newish battery.
When you turn the key on, wait about 10-15 seconds before hitting the start button.
The systems need a few seconds to "talk" to each other to initialize everything. If you hit the start button too quickly that system check gets interrupted and that signal comes on.

Thanks for the suggestion. I usually hit the start button right after I turn the key. Typically it starts up fine. Sometimes there is a stall which causes this message. I will be more patient going forward:)

2014 w/ 20k: serpentine belt replaced due to noise when hot (found significant glazing), and the "brake" on my seat was broken, allowing the seat (on track days) to recline over 1-2 laps.

I'm curious if 458 suffers from carbon build up of intake valves due to direct injection? The build up can be significant as early as 30k miles on some GDI engines

i would keep an eye on it as this happened to me when i had a 2013 458 spider as well. battery is not as newish as you think. i had it back in 2014 so the car was still very new then. i ended up getting sidelined and had it towed to dealership. turned out the OEM battery tender wasnt trickling in enough charge. id check the tender first, and take it dealership to check on the battery itself if you dont want to get sidelined on the road.

There was a small leak but water didn't end up on the interior. Water did track between the rubber and the metal beneath. You don't want that so I got it replaced immediately.

My dealer says yes, did an intake cleaning on my 2011 458 and they claim it got a lot of "gunk" out of the system but I can't say it made much of a difference.

My 2011 with 4700 miles has been at the dealer for 2 weeks now while they try to diagnose a strange drop in power under full load. It doesn't seem to be a full misfire, but the exhaust note changes slightly and I can feel a slight unsteadniess to the acceleration. It's the first issue I've had.
