It says in MINT condition. What else could you ask for???

Kidding aside, in all seriousness, do you have more to the story?

I bought a 328 site unseen once and it took quite some time to get it all worked out.

Were you disappointed by the lack of front wheel drive?

Buying a 27 year old Ferrari long distance is pretty tough. Did you have a PPI?

What were the issues you had with the seller? Was it a dealer or an individual?

I did not have a PPI and went on their (owner and seller) word. The car was portrayed as part of a collection and in mint condition. I've put about $10K into it to date to get it to a really nice standard. It simply fell short of what it was represented as. Also, the owner ADMITTED to removing the side moldings before shipping it to me. He was to send me replacements and never did. The tool box went missing, one side vent was detached, it was missing Catalytic converters and did not pass emissions and it had a shifting problem which I had rectified. The seller states he's not a dealer, but he sure sells a lot of cars.
I am happy I bought the car, but I would not have paid $41,500 for it had I known the issues.

The missing catalyst is a legal issue, for him, that's Federal Law, not sure worth pursuing though....

You bought a Ferrari sight unseen without a PPI?
Hopefully you wont do that again...its always worth the price to get that done.
I bought my (now sold) Scud sight unseen, but I had a PPI done AND I had a friend who lives locally to where it was do a once over on it.
One should always do a PPI on used car purchases, you never know what you are getting in to unless you do one.

What ended up being the problem with your shifting, sounds like you fixed it which is great. I think you will find your Mondial will prove a good investment as well as a good drive, especially since you are taking the effort to perfect it. As the values rise there will be some flippers and other fast buck people increasingly polluting the market. But, top condition models will be worth a lot more than you paid/invested.

Per the listing - Missing original tool kit.

In light of what you have spent for the car and getting it right, a small investment of a couple hundred dollars in a PPI would have saved many thousands.

    Oh well, lesson learned.

Congrats on the car and I wish you good luck with it!

Always get a PPI. And NEVER accept a dealer's own mechanic - the PPI should ALWAYS be done by a 3rd party source to prevent any potential conflict of interest.

The buyer pays for the PPI (and sometimes even to transport it to the tester; and back). However, with PPI in hand, you can negotiate any issues to your satisfaction.

The shifting fix was quite simple. New transmission fluid and lubricating shifter cables. The more I drive it, the better it feels. I also use the shift into reverse as a first step to align the linkage as detailed on FChat.

Unless buying a car that has documented service history and a PPI to confirm condition, I would always budget at least $10k for repairs within the first months of ownership. I've found even some honest sellers who aren't serious car aficionado's often actually convince themselves that a car in B- condition is actually an A+. Part of it is ego about their car, part of it is ignorance, and part of it is "seller's goggles", dismissing real issues as "no big deal".
Mondial's are the last of the mid engine V8 gate shifters to get attention but it's starting to happen. Whatever you put into it is money well spent, imo.
