Nigel from a generation when most drivers weren't exactly Triathalon level athletes. :D
Bottas was not on the racing line. He was way inside even 50 feet before the apex. Additionally, the following car has the obligation to avoid contact. Bottas ruins Kimi's race and gets a podium?! What a BS non-call by the stewards.
Wow NBC couldn't switch fast enough to Nascar! Not even a commercial!!!! 1 Million Nascar fans called NBC "Get that Mexican Form-you- la car race off the air!"
And why do you think that this was the best possible call for Rosberg and not just as secure as Hamiltons? Just because Rosberg did not complain? Edit: Lauda said that the team decided the two stop after looking at the first set of tyres...So this was the best time to do the second stop so they called Rosberg and Hamilton within one lap as they always do...Hamilton just came one lap late because he did not listen to them. In Monaco it was said that it it s the job of the team to make the best call, not the drivers...Now all of the sudden the driver knows better than the team???
Anyone who thinks Hamilton was driving full out to win today is crazy. Nico had him in turn 1 and that was the end of the show unless Nico had an error.
And when racing was dangerous and run off areas were not paved. The current Motorsport podcast really does a great interview with Nigel and it really points out how few retirements happen and how much safer Formula 1 has become. Remember the current generation of F1 cars are the least physically demanding to drive since the 1970s due to the lower Gforce they pull.
' Watch it 1000 times. I'm a Kimi supporter from his Sauber days. He needed to give room.No penalty call from Blundell, good enough for me.
This only shows that it is impossible to overtake under normal circumstances when behind an equal car. Even with different cars it went wrong today more often than not. Lewis did what he could but unless Rosberg does a mistake it is difficult...I doubt that this was a gifted victory because Hamilton would rather shoot himself than letting Rosberg win...As said before: it is just not Hamiltons nature to go for a second place...and certainly not for Rosberg
Concur. Bottas was on the inside. The guy on the racing line does not have the right of way...I don't know where this thinking comes from. Kimi knew he was there and hit him. There was no way for Bottas to slow down enough. Kimi at fault.
I'm not blaming Hamilton. If he had Rosberg in the first corner then he would have won the race. It was over in the first 15 seconds. But I do not believe that the team would have let Hamilton pass Rosberg aside from an error.
No, not really. Rosberg hasn't won for ages this year. With him on the pole and taking the first corner, there was no way the team would let Hamilton challenge.
Sorry? Rosberg had 5 Poles this year... 1.) Spain - he won 2.) Japan - Lewis won the run on turn one because Rosberg "had less power" 3.) Russia - Rosberg won the run on turn one and DNF because of the throttle 4.) USA - Lewis won the run on turn one with a hard move 5.) Mexico - Rosberg won So please show me the "several times" Hamilton passed him this year without any mistakes involved...
That's right, because the team somehow is doing the driving, and not Hamilton, obviously, and we all know how obliging Hamilton is when told not to pass Rosberg. Not that he was actually told today, mind you, but perhaps you might have been privy to radio comms that the rest of us weren't... 4 poles in a row now for Rosberg; good for him. Maybe a better way to look at it is that now with the title wrapped up for Niki Lauda's blue-eyed boy Lewis, the team has told Rosberg he can now actually drive and compete, instead of letting Lewis win.....
