550 - US vs European Spec differences - Can you import?

    Can anyone share a quick rundown on the differences between a US and a European Spec (LHD) 550? What are the major differences and obstacles to importing on to the US? Let's say a '97 model for example.

    You can "federalize" any car...at great expense. For example, airbag inflation times vary from Euro to USA. The 550 was supposed to be the first "global" car, but components were installed in each one to meet that buyer's destination requirements. Russian cars for example have no safety equipment at all. Bare metal dash board and sharp edges. I guess it's a cultural thing.
