Most F-Chatters know Carbonio as a carbon fiber supplier but we also have a design department that engineers products in all kinds of different materials. Recently we have turned our attention to the development of a full range of front license plate mounts that feature easy installation and removal with zero damage to the paint and body.

Currently we have in process designs that will cover almost EVERY Ferrari from the mid 1960's right up to the 458 Speciale and 488. It will be a comprehensive product range that will hopefully eliminate the front plate mounting problem forever.

Today we release our very first offering for the standard F458 in both coupe and spider versions (458 Speciale in process currently no ETA). Manufactured from laser cut and CNC bent metal, each mount is powder coated for maximum durability and offers a clean factory delivered look.

Prior to release, our mount saw extensive road and track test miles with flawless performance even at speeds in excess of 300 kph. It is now ready for all 458 owners worldwide offering a simple and effective solution to the problem of mounting a front license plate.

Some advantages of our design are:

    - Easy 5 second on / 5 second off installation

    - Great for car shows or track sessions when you want to quickly remove your front plate

    - Soft closed cell foam on all contact surfaces protects paint

    - Strong formed plate support accepts USA and Rest of World (ROW) licence plates; a truly global solution

    - Black powder coating offers clean OEM look and long lasting finish

    - Spring-loaded mounting mechanism is hidden underneath giving a discrete installation

    - Low-profile design doubles as audible bumper protector signaling impending paint scrapes before they happen

    - Unit is shipped pre-assembled with all hardware and is ready to mount out of the box

Below are some photos of the unit by itself and installed with both a North American and ROW plate for demonstration

Price: $295 USD - Currently in stock and ready to ship

Interesting design - the only questionI have is for the Speciale/Aperta does it play havoc with the flaps which are part of the overall aero design?Looks simple and straight forward otherwise.

Thank you and it is remarkably simple but the devil is in the details that took an age to get right.

As for the Speciale/Aperta that mount will be special to that car and has its own unique challenges. We'll discuss that one when it comes out but for now lets not put the cart in front of the prancing horse and focus on the 458 mount :)

Will it fit if you have a skid plate under the front bumper?

We do not know of any skid plate that interferes with this mount so I cannot see why there would be any problem. That said remember that this mount was designed to double as a central skid plate offering protection to the bumper against underside scrapes.

By Spring 2016 we expect to have applications for almost all Ferrari models from the 1960's forward including the FF. We will release details as parts are completed but can currently not offer a firm ETA.

    Very nicely done!

Just wondering if you tested it at higher speeds? I worry it might come off. Also I would worry about some rubbing on the clear coat but I think given the location this would be minor.

So how fast can the plate clip be taken off or reinstalled ? Are any tools required ? The reason I am asking, I would not have it on the car...rather keep it in the frunk with the license plate mounted to it and if I got pulled over, I would put it back on in front of the police officer, hopefully without the use of tools.

As indicated, it is a 5 second on/off procedure and requires no tools. You can have your plate on the car before the officer could even find their ticket book :)

I missed that. I'm headed to your website now. Thanks !

Edit: ordered. I do have a 1/4" plastic skid plate. Hopefully that won't affect use of this plate holder.

Exactly. I do that with my tow hook license plate holder but takes a minute to spin into place and looks like crap off to the side. Mine is ordered. Will report back.

I bought one of the Carbonio rear mount license plates and couldn't be happier! I mounted it then drove 2500 miles on pounding roads to Monterey and back. Performed flawlessly, not even the slightest perturbing!

I'll bet they have applied the same technology to these front plates and you'll have a final lifetime solution. Do it once and do it right!

    Rob,

Believe I spoke to you a couple months ago - still waiting on my CF airbox, and, as we discussed, hoping to work something out for a mount as well.

No drill? How does it attach to the car? I am looking for something like that for a Cali, 612 and Vantage...

The mount is spring loaded and padded with neoprene foam to prevent slip and scratching your car's finish.

We will have an application for the California in the very near future.

Please watch this video to get an understanding of how our License Plate Mount functions.
