308i 2v I will be removing the intermediate housing. The housing on the back of the block behind the flywheel and attached to the trans. Are there any tricks or tips on this? Things to be careful or watch out for?

    Thanks Wayne

No. I need to remove the block from the trans. Any tip on separating the block from trans case?

Try to keep all the gears and bearings in their original orientations.

the gear drive cover comes off easily. drain remove the 12 0om 13 mm bolts and pry the cover loose / tap with rubber mallet gently then pull the cover. the center gear is not held on by anything and ther are some very very thin needle bearing on a cage . you need a special wrench for the ring nut on the lower gear shaft to separate it

You are lucky. I worked on getting that plate off for many days. One of the upper studs got wet and rusted itself in the hole solid. What a PITA.
