With the amount of mistakes he made against Hamilton in the last two years he has not much in hand to turn that...After every winter break he comes back with the best resolutions but I think it is too late to get all that out of his head.

It's a pity because he is a likeable chap, and fast with it too. But he doesn't have the racecraft for close combat. I like him nevertheless.

How can you not like anyone who so clearly pours his heart into what he's doing? You can clearly see how much it means to him...

He's in a tough situation though. There is no other team than can give him the chance to win races, much less a WDC, but it would take unforeseen circumstances to make him THE guy at Merc.

If it were My team, I'd run it more like Ferrari have done in the past, with a definitive No.1 driver and a decent No.2 driver, and I would do everything I could to get My No.1 driver the WDC, and wouldn't have the issues that Mercedes has with its two drivers.

As a Ferrari fan I would love to see Hamilton and Rosberg fight like Hamilton and Alonso did at McLaren! - Then, chances are we'd be crowning Vettel as Ferrari's latest WDC, just as we did Kimi in 2007! ;)

This is why Rosberg's best option is to stick with Mercedes, try to shine in qualifs, drive the best he can and pick up points and the occasional win.

There is at the moment no better car than the Mercedes, nor any other team bending backwards to welcome him.

Nico plays the part of the support driver very well. He gives way to Ham when pushed and he doesn't really put up much of a challenge when it comes to WDC points.

Not sure that will ever change. Not as long as Ham is his teammate.

I just hope eltons insurers pay out for the fender bender in Monaco! Let's face it, Elton will probably try to claim the stationary car jumped out of its parking space and hit him!

Agree. He is now in the unfortunate position of looking to maximise his earnings as a top dollar number 2 driver, or head down to a midfield team in far lower pay to be a tenuous number 1 driver - just like Massa tried after being dropped by Ferrari. Shame because I kind of like him, but his chance to be top tier has passed.

On the German news they say the big change that Hami was referring to happening in Singapore was a new rear suspension mounting, permitting a wider variety of setups.

Either Rosberg has now the ability to get the car to behave the way he wants, which wasn't able to earlier this season. Or he might have sat on his arse and studied what to do, while the pop star was busy doing other things.

Either way, this is good news for 2016 and a hopefully more open season.
And this was a massive bounce back from Rosberg. Too late to make a change this year, but nevertheless impressive.

That's fascinating stuff. If the former, there's not much Hamilton might be able to do about it, so the fight is definitely on. If the latter, Rosberg has a head start but Hamilton could catch up with study.

Could the adjustable mounting point also have compromised the fixed setup Hamilton used to have and liked? If so, I wonder if he's having a hard time replicating it in the settings. The way he's been talking, it sounded like something changed on his car that he didn't like, rather than something changed that Rosberg was able to utilize and Hamilton got no benefit - although that could just be media spin.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

Because he chokes and because he isn't mentally strong enough when it counts. That's why I don't care for him. Still a very good driver of course, but those aren't traits that are going to make me a fan of his, even if I respect his ability.

Uh-huh. What is the proper setup to avoid choking? : )

I kid...not really. Seriously, Nico's biggest problem is his head, not the car setup. He is clearly fast, but cracks under real pressure - like when the WDC is on the line.

Worse yet, he won't accept that this is something he needs to work on - eg the "wind" excuse in Austin which was met with a room full of laughter. Another example - easily rattled by Vettel making simple jokes.

Yep....all true IMO, plus the pressure he gets to never touch Hamilton after spa last year

It's a tough job...and the difference between being a 'fast driver' and a 'world champion'.

Introverted, analytical types can be very good at what they do, but ultimately they tend to over-think things. I think that Rosberg clearly falls into that description (although Senna would be the example of an introverted, analytical type who clearly was able to process and act effectively)

Basically, you're pretty much correct though.

I would agree about Senna, but he definitely drove more assertively than Rosberg : )

Although hopefully Rosberg keeps this going and doesn't get pushed around next year or look to his teammate to have a positive impact on his race.

LH needs a serious education in press management and an agent to give it to him. That article is not what a multi-world champion needs out in the public domain.

Im sure Vettel will laugh it off....we take things harder here than they do.

That Lewis completly lacks class and elegance is not something new...it is not how many you have won that counts, it is how you have won; and in that matter, he fails...

This is actually perfect because when Vettel is in a stronger car next year it will be even harder for Hamilton to swallow.

So I guess by Hamilton's rationale, Nico is better than Vettel then since he has been beating Hamilton recently?

Next season is going to be more interesting for sure.
