Based on the many responses that I've received, and discussions with potential buyers and Fchatters, it appears that I didn't understand the market and significantly underpriced the wheels. I apologize for this oversight and potentially misleading anyone. In light of materially higher offers, my price for now is $1600 + shipping. I didn't start out to mislead, but I should have done some more research before posting my ad.

Just for the record, not cool. You have an ask price the buyer meets it. The item at that time should be sold.
I for one would not go back on my word for any price.

I spoke to Brian, had a deal set and was awaiting for him to get me the shipping cost so I could pay in full and apparently a few other people in line stated the price was to low. I thought if asking price was met, the deal was done...

If it wasn't for the shipping costs (Europe) and taxes, I still would have taken them at 1600...
Even if they were previously (not) for sale at 800.
Come on guys, swallow your pride, at 1600 still interesting.

Certainly not the first time it's happened, nor will it be the last. I got hosed on the 348/355 Challenge rims a few months back. You probably remember as I know you were 2nd in line if I didn't take them.

Yes, I agree that it's not cool. But I did exchange a few pm's with the seller and it appears to be an honest mistake. Doesn't negate that he should've done some research before stating a price, or listed as taking best offer over $800.

I also would never go back on my word, but each individual ultimately has to decide the price of their integrity. For some on this board, it can be as low as a few hundred $$$. For others, there isn't a price.

Integrity, (or lack of) is one issue, however, given the condition of these wheels, the original price of $800.00 was spot on. $1600 is not even close to the real market for wheels that need refinishing so I'd guess they won't be sold anytime soon and that may just be karma...

It's about $350 per wheel for complete refinishing and mounting at the place I go to.

+1. I *almost* PMed/posted that I'd buy these the minute I saw the ad, since I'd love to have a set for my 348, but something didn't "feel right". And now this...

I wish this site had a transaction feedback system. To date, all of my transactions with fellow F-Chatters have been excellent, but it would be good to know more about who you're dealing with since it seems not everyone here plays by the same rules.

Continental A Ferrari dealer after deal was done lied and backed out of deal with me recently on a tool kit which i feel is even more of an insult coming from a Ferrari dealer..But this happens by people selling things a lot..Another toolkit I was first to respond and want to buy seller ended up asking for best offer with not letting people know what other best offers were which is even worse than an auction and he has no fees!!

No tires and the wheels need refinishing. 800 to 1000 is more than fair... When I first saw the ad, I even hesitated at 800.

    Good luck!!!

    The OP made a mistake.
He explained the mistake in a later post.
No need for him to sell @ any price that does not meet his expectations.
    but
I'd be disappointed too if I thought I had scored a deal and the seller chose not to follow through.

    Cheers

    Craig

But $800 was his expectation. He clearly stated that he would gladly sell them for that amount.

He offered them for sale at HIS asking price. Someone excepted HIS asking price. Then he changed his expectation and pulled out of the deal.

The seller describes them as " not bent" , so you will have to take his word on that...

At this point I wouldn't buy it if he sold it for $50. I rather not deal with such person.
