    Peter,
this discussion is getting more and more interesting.
I would not call it cheap, when you aim to competitive. I would call it 'good value'.

My daily job means permanent justification regarding the costs and defending myself against penny pinchers. Nevertheless I don't want anyone to call my work 'cheap'.
Go as inexpensive as possible without sacrificing quality. And do not waste time with unefficient work.
    This is my aim.

If costs wouldn't matter. Why doesn't have CMC their 1:18 facilities in China and not in Germany? All call their models 'art' though they are mass produced. Nevertheless they aim for low wages countries.
Now that wages in China increase, I'm curious, when they will close their China factory and go to India or Bangladesh.

    Best

I'm not into production or high profits. I prefer to be "compensated" for my work. I use only the best quality materials and techniques to achieve the best result possible. If one of my clients wants to enhance detail on a particular project we rarely quibble over cost. It is a most enjoyable journey as we work together. One client recently described his experience working with me as "dynamic".

    Carpe Diem 😉

FWIW my intent was not to argue but to point out the realities of building for compensation.

    Sorry if I offended anyone...
