Better is a personal opinion, whose wife, job, house, .... is better? (sorry I had to)

Our 1987 930 cab rocks, and the 355 is just different. I have yet to purchase, but have driven several and I know it is just a matter of time. Soon there will be a 355 (probably spider) in our stable.

My current Jag F-Type R sounds great and drives amazingly well on the twisties with allot of power, but I feel the F355 is more balanced and predictable on the twisties. Of couse the 550HP beast with 503 lb/ft torque will smoke the F355 in a straight-line. The twisties are where most of the fun is. I still love my former F355 and also am getting more in love with my F-Type R. Both have their special places.

Vas not sure what happened but raced my friends jag fom a 35 mph roll on and i was ahead until we slowed down at 120. Possible his car did not shift down into first. It was very close i was only ahead by maybe 5 feet and most of that was right from the start.

This thread is convincing me that everyone needs to own a 355 and a boxer, TR or 512TR.

That way you have the best of both worlds: two analogue mid-engine Ferraris, one being small with 8 cylinders and one being bigger with 12. Life is too short to not have both.

This is my new mission. Need to keep grinding out long weeks at work to make it happen...

I'll chime in. I have had the privilege of driving and owning nice examples of sport cars (993TT, 996 GT2, and a few M Bimmers) and they live up to every bit of the hype that the owners and media state.

This being my first Ferrari, - the F355 drives and feels 'alive' every time I take her out. Not that the Porsche's and M cars (all 6spd) didn't have the same feeling, but it's a different type of excitement when she starts and then warms up to hear that exhaust note in full song. I agree, it makes me feel like I'm in my 20's again...but with a bigger belly ;)

Was it the F-Type R and did he have it in manual dynamic mode? R has 2x torque of F355. Must be the driver. Maybe shifting too early. F-Type starts in 2nd if one doesn't put in dynamic manual and set gear to 1st.

Yes its the R but in his defence he had just got it. Also i know its way faster off the line and i dont really like drag racing off the line. I thought it would kill me but f om that speed i think technically i had an advantage without knowing it.

I was dancing with a Porsche GT4 on the freeway a few days ago, and we both hit it in 5th at about the same speed and revs... Pretty much dead nuts even, although I wasn't able to really talk to the GT4 driver afterwards to verify he was at WOT in 5th. He did give me the "Ultimate Sound" gesture, grabbing his ear while smiling as he passed me in bumper to bumper bridge traffic. :)

No, I haven't driven a car better than the F355 Berlinetta.

Wow, I guess our cars are similar to a GT4 at least from a power to weight comparison.

    Who gives a s..t
Are you boys 18 years old?

Anything sub 5 secs 0-60 is fast enough unless you are seriously competing around race tracks

My car is faster than your car...please grow up

I give a ****. If it didn't matter how fast they were, why buy a Ferrari at all? The 355 is a very fast car if driven properly. It needs (and likes) to be wrung out to get at it, though, unlike a lot of other performance cars. That's one of the things I love about it.

Yes. And same top speed though C&D did beat my F355 1/4 mile time by .3 sec and 3mph.

Another thing noted in their review is how tall 1st and 2nd gears are (top of second nearly 80mph).

+1 for F355 as far as fun on the street. Gearing is perfect for having fun at less than insane speeds.

    lotusk- Want to race? :D

Can you do something else for me then and explain what in your eyes we should be allowed to discuss?

This is in fact a thread which will draw comparisons so now that we have scratched acceleration off the list should we refrain from handling and braking (and?) as well?

Just some basic guidelines on your part would be good but I think a flow chart would be best.

I compete on race tracks, so does that mean I can discuss relative speed of the cars? How serious do I have to be? Is it good enough that I run sanctioned races or do I have to run competitive sanctioned races in my f355 to talk about how fast it is? I just want to make sure I have the proper lotusk verified credentials to debate the relative speed of my f355.

That or you could go crawl back under whatever troll bridge you crawled out of and let us have our discussion.
