    Jamie,

Very cool- I just chucked one of the door panels from my 76. Had a production number on it, probably should have saved it.

During an Historic racing weekend at Monza circuit a very rare original 1976 Porsche 934 Turbo RSR. Using the 930 as a basis, the 934 RSR was a racing version of the Porsche 911 Turbo prepared to FIA Group 4 rules. This version is powered by a 3.0 litre turbo flat-six engine delivering around 485bhp and 590nm of torque.

Decided to do a bit of TLC, I noted with interest the 0241 number hand stamped into the top of the engine casing, the motor has the correct COA number at (6750)271 for my 1975#281.
Is this 0241 a factory ID number?

Interesting numbers...can you see the 0241 with the engine installed?

Those numbers indicate the two halves of the case are machined to be matching each other. I believe these were stamped BEFORE the actual engine number was assigned. The engine number + these two numbers matching indicates that both halves of the engine are original to the car.

No, I have the motor and gear box out of the car, the numbers are under the orange air flow cowl stamped on top of the top middle cross bolt holding the two halves of the engine case together.

Thanks for the explanation, were these numbers stamped only on the early turbo's?

After looking at the photos in the Mar ’75 Sport Auto magazine in detail, I believe there’s a very good possibility that Viper Green 1975 Turbo, registration plate 2999WW92 was previously S-CD 1337 (chassis # 9305700011).

In the Sport Auto photos (were also posted by Giuliakeka), there’s a nice photo of the engine where you can see the prototype air cleaner housing, part number on the intake manifold that was not on the ’75 production Turbos, and a mystery part? Perhaps after the ’74 Paris Salon the car remained in France (similar to GLP 870N remaining in Great Britain).

Would you say that my carpets are cork or tan? Mine is a 1976 ROW 930. I tend to think it is tan, but someone thinks it is cork. I want to buy floor carpets but don't want to mess up with the color. Thanks

Not specific to the Turbos. They appeared on other 911 cases as well during that time.

That looks like tan to me, cork is much darker. I'll post a pic of cork carpets.

I also thought Cork was the more mottled interior that was only available in non-leather. The markings gave it an appearance that slightly resembled cork itself with lots of the cork wood chips.

    Ryan,

Not sure about earlier years but my 79 dealer sample book lists, cork leatherette (code 31) cork leather (88)and cork carpets (5AF). The cork leatherette does have a much heavier grain than the cork leather.
