Speaking about engines I see the V12 308 is almost complete and will be started in a few weeks.

If you need more power in your 308, the answer is "sell it and buy a 208 turbo intercooler"...

    :)

    Ciao

No but it can be made to fit and I'm certain it would be worth the trouble.

$16K - $19K depending on what its been through which is reasonable considering they were $125K new.

A lot less than some of the offerings out there that make half the HP! Yes its less practical than sticking with a ferrari engine and to some it would be an unforgivable sin but its pretty tempting. Even if it was detuned (lower compression ratio and milder cams) its still going to make impressive numbers. For the amount of times I drive my car I could leave it in Indy configuration, run C16 in it and not care.

But you would have of course to use a different transmission and drivetrain? The stock OEM ttransmission, clutch, driveshafts, uprights, etc wouldn't stand 650 hp? And who knows how much ft/lbs of torque?

I would take the wait and see approach with the gearbox. Like anything, its how you drive it and treat it that has a big impact on whether you break it or not. The clutch would be a multi-disc that fits the engine. Using Mark's V12 conversion as an example I dont see or know of any gearbox modifications and he's estimating over 800HP. Doesn't mean it'll hold together but I think he's taking a similar approach and if it breaks beef it up accordingly if needed.

My intention isn't to put this in a 308, just thinking out loud but I will go so far as to make some measurements of a 308 engine I have here to see how monumental it might be. Then who knows?
