Horrible looks! They didn't even try to mask that it's a Miata. 2017 Fiat 124 Spider: This Is It, All Official And Stuff At least it has the Abarth engine. Wonder if it has a manual? But it's not attractive at all IMO. The original had so much visual personality, even if it was pretty much an unreliable rust bucket (I had 2 BTW -- 1800 and 2000 Fi). I liked the 1800 better. More here: Clearly has a manual box but also an auto in the stick location on the center console. 2017 Fiat 124 Spider: Japanese bones, Italian flair Good comparison of the Miati to 124 here --- the interior looks the same http://www.autoblog.com/2015/11/18/fiat-124-spider-mazda-mx5-miata-comparison-feature/
I quite like it, but that blue isn't the best color choice. A Miata in a silly suit with more power and a more interior options (ANYTHING but all black, please). Fine by me. Fiat's last drop top was pretty cool (drove one for 6 months in Germany) but this'll be RWD and have ~40 more hp. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I like it! In TDF and a tan interior, it would be a little beauty of a car. And a 2.0 turbo would be a funnest thing around... And all for the cost of sales tax on a speciale! 8^) SV
I agree with you on the looks. I'm really disappointed. I work at a Mazda store and I think the Miata looks way better. this thing is bland and uninteresting.
I think it stands out more than the Miata....but not in a good way. The front is ok in the above photo but the rear is a mess. Mazda's in general have bland styling, but that is ok for them. We used to expect more from the Italians. I wonder if M is approving all these bad designs for FIAT associated brands??
Here's what the 2016 Miata looks like. I prefer it to the Fiat, but that's why they have vanilla and chocolate, right? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Saw my first new Miata last week at a dealership. Forgot how small they are. Damn good looking car. Neither one of them are as sublime as the Alfa concept (however impossible it may be to pass safety/lighting standards...) I agree that the Fiat should have at least some interior differences, besides materials/colors. A different steering wheel at least (even if the Mazda one is truly great). That Fiat just doest look Italian, maybe they wanted to focus on getting the unreliability portion correct.
IMO, the Miata's front end looks like a mini-Ferrari/mini-Jag and the FIAT's looks like a mini-Ford Fusion. That's ironic and sad because Ford owns a big chunk of Mazda.
If they were that tight on cash they should have just copied this exactly and called it a day Image Unavailable, Please Login
I actually like it, would prefer homegrown but I think it looks pretty damn good...especially in black. The Abarth version should be really interesting...can't wait.
Hi, I agree that it underwhelms in the looks department, but I think the deciding factor will be the sound and performance from the Abarth engine. That could change things markedly (as far as I am concerned at least). Just my 2 cents, Ramin
