Ok I have read every speaker / stereo thread on fchat and have finally decided to do some minor upgrades to the horrendous stock stereo. My goal is to keep everything looking absolutely stock! Yes I will keep the stock Becker radio. I do not need nav / sat / gps etc on my head unit - that is what my iPhone is for. I already have been using the aftermarket wiring harness that is plug and play to be able to listen to music etc from my iPhone using the AUX input on the radio. I do not want any amps in the trunk etc but i will be adding an aftermarket amp to drive the new speakers. This is pretty much a must since the Becker only outputs a paltry 18 watts.

I looked into the Scuderiaaudio system and that looked very good. However the stock speakers are 6.5" midrange and the scuderia setup uses only a 5" speaker with the trim ring. Since I will not be adding a subwoofer (at this time at least) it was vital for me to be able to keep the 6.5" size. I love Focal speakers - they make some nice high end Audio Speakers and have a great reputation in car audio as well.
The system will be installed at Spade Kreations in Cincinnati who work on alot of exotics / ball players cars etc and they have a good reputation.

Here is what is getting installed:
    *Focal PS165F 6.5" components
*Arc KS125.2BX2 2 channel amp mounted under radio
*Audio Control 2 channel line out converter for adding amps to factory radio systems
*8 AWG CCA Amp install kit
*Dynamat sound deadening inside the doors
    * 7 hours labor (if less I will get a credit if more, no extra charge)

I do not want them to drill new wiring in the door so crossover will probably be installed inside doors. I will let the experts figure out the best solution here. When it is all done it should be indistinguishable from stock and should sound a hell of a lot better! I will keep everyone updated on the outcome! In case you are interested with labor it will come to about $1900

Good luck. I did a similar install. I did install a scuderiaaudio.com sub installed in the location of the factory hi-fi location and if you are going to spend $2k you might as well spend $3,500 and make it sound really good. Good luck! I have Focal speakers in all my cars. I wish the K2 Power's fit. I have them in my FX50s and they rock. They couldn't do it make them fit ;(

Knowing myself I am sure the scuderiaaudio sub and amp will be next! I just wanted to get the 6.5" mids in there and not be limited to the 5" mids!

Sounds good. I had Focal in several cars. I became a dealer for the home hifi side of Focal due to my experience with the car stuff.

I did this, in a 360 (with Focal) - pull the Becker, it's the single item that is responsible for the sound processing, and it will sound terrible, even with Focals all around. I did this, and wasn't happy with the sound, the owner of the company explained why the Becker was responsible for it, pulled it, put in an Alpine, WOW. No question he was dead on. The Becker went with the car when it was sold...as did all the original speakers. To the contrary, in my 430, which came with the $7300 BOSE OEM package, I kept the speakers, and just pulled the head unit. Again, wow, all I needed was a $300 Alpine to 'bring out' what the speakers were capable of. Not the other way around. I have the original head unit in the box come resale time. Just something to think about.

A good friend of mine in the car stereo world, told me a long time ago, it doesnt matter if its Home or Car audio.... **** in=**** out.... always start with the head unit... I changed out my becker with an Alpine, and that alone improved the whole thing over all... Start with the foundation... than move onto the components

UPDATE: Ok I just picked the car up from the stereo shop. Install took about 7 hours or so (billed). He installed the 6.5" door mids and the new tweeters and used the factory wiring in the door (which he said are 16 gauge and totally fine for what we were trying to do). Crossovers were mounted inside the door panels. He also applied Dynamat sound deadening sheets inside the door and around the crossovers to protect from potential moisture issues etc. The Audio Control unit was not needed and he said with the Arc amp he was able to splice right into the factory radio wires without any problems!
Sound: It sounds absolutely amazing even with the crappy stock radio... I was all about keeping the stock look. He was able to use the stock grilles for mids and tweeters so you could never tell anything has been done! There is no need to post any pictures! The amp was mounted somewhere under the radio and it is not visible! There is now a good amount of punchy bass and it sounds crystal clear streaming Tidal Music from my iPad. I figured if the sound is not right i will switch out the head unit but I really see no reason to now! Believe me it sounds really good.
I am very picky when it comes to audio and have a massive audiophile system in my basement with Krell amplification and processor, 3 JL Audio Fathom F113 subs, all Martin Logan electrostatic speakers, acoustical treatments etc. No it does not have the slamming low bass my home subs have of course but the midrange and mid bass sound excellent even at high speeds with the Racing Exhaust purring away! All in all with components and labor etc it was about $1,700 and I am happy as heck!

I like everything you said except "splice" into the wires. I would like to see them use compatible pins and connectors rather than splicing. It would have taken a few more minutes but if you are happy that is all that matters!

    Any pics?

This thread is old, but reading about the speaker upgrade in the doors, has anyone found the part numbers for the connectors or Metra brand wiring harness adapters for the door speakers so that there is no splicing or cutting off the factory speaker connector to tap into the factory wiring in the door?

Seems that Metra adapters doesn't list our brand, but I know these connectors must be standard like VW or Audi, or similar as the manufacturer of our systems is Ask not Ferrari themselves.

My car is upgraded and have not looked into the door, but have a friend who wants this done and wants adapters not splicing.
