Anyone else experienced this? My 360 speedo shows speed up to 10 mph faster than the on my "Ferrari Genuine" (Clarion) infotainment system. When the passport chimes in, it usually agrees with the Clarion. The discrepancy gets larger with speed. Has anyone confirmed which is correct?

Ferrari is notorious for speedos that read too high, especially older ones. My 430, however, only reads 2-3mph too high which is about the same as my Toyotas.

Mine goes faster too, maybe not 10mph but 5-8mph at freeway speeds, and yes obviously the faster you go the bigger the difference, it is not linear, it is a margin of error that gets bigger the faster you go, otherwise the speedometer would show 10mph when the car is standing still.

Mike- Depends on what size rear tires you have fitted, too. In general, the odometers are pretty accurate, and, like everyone has been telling you, the speedos read fast. Has been true since my 72 Dino, at least.

Just throw a GPS in the car and see which one is closest to the GPS speed. But 360's being 5-10% off is not uncommon.

My 360 and now my 430 are both off by about 8%

I would hope this is in fact true, otherwise we would be on the hook for more depreciation that anticipated.

Do they use two different methods of measurement? One for speed and one for distance? Every other car I've owned has based it singularly on drive shaft RPM meaning that if it's off for speedometer then it's off by the same percentage for odometer.

in a 348 the car is always at "speed" even while stationary!!! not so sure why they had included "0km/h" when the needle will never hit it! nor am i sure why they just didn't position "0km/h" at where the needle would eventually come to a rest while stationary!

The difference definitely gets larger as speed increases. It seems accurate up to about 35 but by 80 it's off about 10 mph. (not that I've ever exceeded posted speed limits).

Same signal to the odometer and speedometer, but what the gauges do with them is apparently different.

I've also experienced a ~10% differential radar verified. I wonder how 0-60 times are done, I suspect using radar. IIRC European and Canadian owners note their speed is accurate with kph.

So why would Ferrari continue to do this? Perhaps we should do a poll.

    - Ferrari doesn't know, and they have been using an incorrect conversion from kph to mph for years.
    - Ferrari is aware and just don't care about accuracy of the speedometer.
    - Ferrari cares so much about you getting speeding tickets they designed it to slow you down.
    - Ferrari knows the easiest way for us to perceive more speed is to alter the speedometer.

Number 2 and number 4 are the correct answers. It's Ferrari.

Also, here in the EU, it's illegal for a car to show too low a speed. Every manufacture does this to some extent just to get around that.

They are just as off here in Europe as they are in the US. The newer Ferrari's have gotten a lot better though. Now they are only off between 3-5%. EU law now dictates that new cars cannot exceed a 10% error. In a recent test done with 33 cars, new cars are off by 5-8% with VW being the worst with an 8% average and Renault the best with a 2% average.

If you want to know how fast you go, just buy a good little digital GPS speedo.(Not Iphone etc. as they are not very accurate)

my 360 is off about 8 mph on highway speeds... Will this not cause the odometer to show 8% more miles as well?
