Still nothing for an enthusiast to read/edit/write Motronic chips? I tried the extra ones that came with my car that were supposed to be done by Tubi back in the day but still have 8750 rev limit :(

Batronix has all the goodies for the 2.7 and 5.2
The 5.2 is a much more expensive reader for the chip and needs to be removed. YOu can buy a bench to do it while connected but $$$$

Just tell them what you want and they will set you up

    Officially, yes.

In practice during the season; to avoid team shenanigans, the factory handed out ECUs in the morning and collected them in the evenings; checking the serial numbers during the day.

Nice work! (and yes that's a bit more complicated).

Did you find or can you access the table for bypass valve operation? Other than wot timing/fueling and rev limit it would be nice to make it open at the same parameters for every gear.

Never even looked for it. The 5.2 has like 200 tables. Way way too many

Challenge ecu have the higher rev limit though from what I understand and a few other tweeks, and sealed to prevent any shenanigans

Nothing special in them, just some faster timing. They seal them to keep everyone on a level field. Todays kids do way more then Ferrari did way back then

I actually have a pair of challenge ecus and I pulled the chips from them to compare with my stock ones. They were about the same. I say about because when we dynode them back to back we found that they produced a better power curve and about 330 HP in my car with its mods and on a Dynopak hub dyno. We had a bunch of other chips as well even some with an 8000 rpm limit and their power curves were not nearly as good, although you could spin the motors faster.

The bottom line is that I believe these ECUs are sheit and need to be replaced with something more modern and tunable. In fact I will switch to a single programmable ECU soon. That was I can more readily tune for whatever mods and conditions I encounter.

    They are Smelly Butt SLOW

Any aftermarket ECU on an OBD1 car will do much better. The 2.7 ecu is a disaster only a small step better then a carb motor

Even the 5.2 ecu is pretty slow but need to deal with OBD2 port which is pretty much a done deal also via emulation :)

What could you do with the 2.7 ecus in a 512TR?

I know nothing about the V12's tendencies at this time. I would not mess with anything I am not 100% sure of.

The challenge ECUs are the same as the stock road cars. They are not allowed to make any changes in there and that is why they were all handed sealed ones at the beginning of race weekends. I have the best 2.7 ECU chips that anyone can get out there. They come from Italy and are done by the guys that do the originals. They can only be had through a connection at Daytona here in Toronto. My 2.7 is faster than a stock 360. When you put these chips in, you swear you are driving a different car. The change is simply a seat of the pants difference. The car now redlines at 9000 and there is no need to even go there as the power curve is amazing. I mentioned it on here years ago and many laughed about it.....If you want to know how good it is, ask our buddy Robb. I took him for a ride this past August and he was and still is throughly impressed and will do the upgrade in the future.

What is the approximate cost on those Gerry? Have you ran it on a dyno by chance?

I have a bunch of military grade coming from China for sever duty use
    Time to play
I will have to detune the challenge chips I have a bit for street use, need dyno time
