Next up from SMP24 in 1/24th scale, a Lancia Scorpion. He does what he likes wich is good. I am sure this will be a great model. The Ferrari 365 GT 2+2 is out.

Also check out the latest decals from Pattos Place. Several new Ferrari's and a Pan Am decal or two. These are pretty good quality and can be clear coated. The bodies are vacuformed unless otherwise noted.

Tom, I see a red lettered note in your last posting about Patto's decals. I recently purchased his decal sheet for BRM F1 cars at $20 and discovered upon receipt of it saw that the colors for the Yardley stripes were not the correct color and shape. I'm very disappointed at this as I hoped to finish my 1/25 BRM P160 in Yardley colors. Beware of Patto's quality of research please.

It all depends on who they stole the artwork from!!! They do a lot of their own artwork but have been known to copy others also.

The FPPM Ferrari 375 Indy 1952 1/24th kit is out. Should be another gem. I think this body is close to the 1951 season Ascari Monza winner, although the exhaust is different.

The biggest change 1952 Ferrari Indy car had was wheelbase 10 inches longer than the 1951 Ferrari 375 F-1 car, there were other changes made to the car almost every day up till Qual. the hood scope was tried in many different lengths and shapes, until the found the one that worked the best for Indy.
4 car were built for Indy, only 1 made the race, the #6 car was fitted with Indy car mag wheels because the crew thought the wire wheel hubs wouldn't hold up.
But installing the mag wheel affected the handling of the car and they couldn't solve the problems to get the car up to Qual. speed. They may have been on the right track because the only Ferrari to make the race crashed when the wheel hub broke.

FIAT 806 in 1/12th reissue coming soon. This was a great racecar that would have changed racing history for years if FIAT had not pulled the plug after they built it. Bugatti would have been eaten alive in the late 1920's !!

Model Factory Hiro next 1:12 scale release looks to be a Cobra - no idea which yet as they've only posted pictures of the gearbox - which is a 4spd top loader.

Here is a photo of the Hiro 1/12th scale Cobra gearbox/bell housing. Not sure wich car yet but I think maybe a 427. I hope it is a Cobra 289 Daytona. The Daytona has 2 distinct body styles, so they will have to make 2 bodies to do all the cars. The 427 and 289 roadsters have some very nice die casts available in 1/12th already, so a good part of the market is already gone(no matter what anyone thinks that is a fact).

It does not look like the trans/bell housing in the 1964 prototype 289 Daytona. I can't find a good picture of the gearbox used in Cobra Daytona's in 1965. Hiro might be using a restored car that has a different Ford Cobra trans, not realizing the 1964 Lemans class winner had a different earlier trans??

Tom, I think there are three distinct bodies for the Cobra Daytona, CSX2287 the prototype with a very different front end (especially regardind the head light covers) and twice modified coverage of the rear wheels (riveted rear lower body extensions), CSX2299 the "wrong" bodied Daytona and CSX2286-2601 and 2602 "right" bodued coupes. It is impossible to make all the coupes with two masters, in fact you need three masters.

Hi Patrick. You are very right. I just hope this is a Daytona and not a Cobra 427. Do you know if they used this gearbox type on the Daytona's?? The wrong body did win Lemans by the way :)....Not to be mean, but how could you not make a 289 Cobra more aerodynamic?? Sorry Pete Brock, just being honest. The Daytona is pretty though.

Looks nice. Watch out for Hiro as they might do this someday as it is a important car.

No worries...this will be Very Limited and exclusive.

Why fuss with all that white metal and poor fit to correct when you can create an original?

The new 1/12 MFH appears to be a 427 Cobra. Unfortunately there are some decent 1/12 die cast out there.
