How many 99 SV's made?
from pics in this thread one would suppose more than half the total...but i thought there were more pop up lights SV then 99 fixed lights....no mistery since pop up were made for 3 years VS 1 year for fixed lights

only 81 1999 cars made for Europe - all variants, including SV, VT, Roadster etc.
There are 9 officially imported UK RHD 1999 SVs - I have number 8.

 

I would like to know how much 99 SV were built in total.
But i think this question can only answered by Lamborghini, even if they know it...

Looks great! Interesting you have a passenger airbag. I don´t know many cars with this detail.

This is what I've noticed. The pop-up cars in EU/UK/Australia had no luxuries at all. No sound proofing, no leather, no adjustable suspension, no liftkit, no chimes, lights, etc.
Sit in the unpadded carbon seat of the SV and then sit in the padded, leather bound Roadster seat. The difference is huge.

Even though they were 30%+ cheaper than the VT's, they didn't appeal to the customer base.

The open light cars though, for the most part, had all the luxuries of the VT's, as they were essentially 2WD VT's, so they appealed to a much broader customer base, even though they lost the SV "purpose". As such, it appears that many more were sold.

I remember when I was looking for my first Diablo more than 15 years ago. I used to baulk when I was being offered SV's. All the luxuries of the VT were a must as far as I was concerned at the time.

 

Yes you´re right. Several later SV´s were delivered with VT interior and luxuries. But this depends also on the delivery country. For example in USA nearly all cars have VT interior and the lifting suspension. In Germany were i´m located also the late SV´s have no luxuries. I know not even one Diablo SV with this VT interior!

In this add the description says that MY99 VT 34 cars were built:

Would like to know the source of this information.

 

According to this site : Lamborghini European sales figures

For the year 99, Lamborghini would have sold 81 Diablo in Europe.

 

Note that that would be calendar year - so how that equates to model year numbers would be anyone's guess.

In an annual report many years ago, Lamborghini published the following total production numbers for model year 99:

VT - unknown
SV - approx. 100
Roadster - approx. 100 (does not include the Momo or Millennium).
GT - 83

Difficult to retrace the correct numbers.
The Diablos MY99 started after summer break 1998. So there are a few MY99 cars also produced in 1998. Only Lamborghini can say correct production volume.

That´s the advantage on "special editions" like SE30, SV-R or GT, GT-R. The production numbers are unfold and more or less correct. For the other Diablo models we can only guess...

Very true. American's like their luxuries. Look at the Aventador SV - most in the US have been specced with comfort seats.

That's the definition of "Model Year" vs "Calendar Year". International VIN standards define the VIN Model Year as August 1st to July 31st.

But shouldn't we count the very first series of 2WD before all these "comfort" changes of the other models went into it rate as a separate model?
They were rough & raw and had not so much to do with the later produced ones.

Quote Valentino from meeting him at the works app. 1994: "If you wanna drive a good Diablo, buy a 4WD; if you are a man, take an early model". He also claimed that they were lighter and early engines were quite powerful. Indeed the guys at the factory wanted to have a weapon against the F40 and especially make sure that 512TR looks quite slow against it.

Surely the SV went that way after the whole concept gained a bit weight, so they had to fight this and followed the route of the "raw" early cars with them.

 

What about the 3 VTR cars and the SV Roadsters, open and closed light?

I don´t think that they used so many different colors on the SV. I think they had two giallo colors during SV production. One for giallo (metallic) and giallo (non-metallic).

Does anyone have pictures of yellow Diablo SVs PPG stickers?

I doubt that "years used" are always correct from lambocars. For example "blue scuro" is written as for MY95 only but it was used also in MY96-MY99.
