Dan, Enzo is not a great car to drive. Gearbox is horrid for example, do you think theoretical provenance like last NA is now more important than whether it is a great drive ?

Let's not forget that the LF is also N/A.

Drive in race mode and change gears near redline while accelerating. Then it's the fastest.

Agreed it's sluggish otherwise, but then you don't need it to shift fast.

As the Ferrari Supercar Series, they are all related: GTO/F40/F50/Enzo/LaFerrari

Do you own a LaF? If not, why have you made it your mission to defend/promote the car?

True, but that was not my point. What makes the LF more of an F50 and less of an Enzo fame-wise? That was my point.

@ DreamCarrera: What's wrong with stating facts mate? Is it not true that the LF is equipped a large, high-revving, naturally aspirated V12?

I have driven an Enzo, and found it to be quite exhilarating.

That's the beauty in life - we get to make our own choices, none are right or wrong, just preferences.

Wait you think ull get a 2nd hand LaF for less than you'll be able to sell your enzo for? The LaF are moving for somewhere around $1M more than the enzo, I'd say hold onto it as the long term return will likely be higher, and you don't appear to drive the cars anyway.

    Thanks Joe.
I don't think we quite know yet how history will judge the LF but we have a better sense on the Enzo. Thats what time gives us. I think the LF is a brilliant car. I'd like to have one. Same for the Enzo- I love them all. We are all fans here so I see nothing wrong if someone wants to point out that the LF is also a NA car. But the LF is assisted and we don't know if history will judge that as a plus or a minus.

Nor do we know what longevity to expect with those battery packs and the hybrid technology, some of which will need very expensive replacement, I suspect in the near future.

You know the funny part Tim? The same arguments were made about the Enzo's future when it was launched. "Too digital and complicated. It will be a nightmare to keep in working order in a few decades from now...". History repeating itself? ;)

Better... what does that "better" means? Because these two cars are both better than the other respectively. To me, the F50 would have been better... with the F40's engine fitted. :)

For "many" perhaps, but certainly not for most.

I might keep the Enzo only because I wouldn't be confident in how a LaF that sits and gets no mileage will fare over a long period of time. All that technology too... and the fact that the Enzo was (relatively) superior in its era, which I think is what matters in the longer-term (if this is for an investment purpose, which it seems to be at such low mileage).

Then again, this is the kind of decision I would love to be in a position to make in 10 years time. My assumption (likely erroneous) is that if you can get one, you can afford to just get both. That is what I would do.

Both are at the top of their respective eras. The only thing that has changed is that the competitors are more now. I don't see any of the two losing value in the long term. No super-Ferrari ever has...

You may be right but here we have a known proven issue from the outset which no one has yet solved and that is the lifespan of battery packs.

I would undoubtedly keep the low mileage Enzo. The point raised with the hybrid and its battery longevity is well taken. I have recently seen an Enzo with basically delivery and service miles just back from the Classiche program. Most beautiful car I've ever seen. Complete perfection. Price was $2.9M to the happy new owner and worth every penny (although it would be too hard for me to not drive it). To each his own but I really don't care for hybrids with electric motors and battery farms.

The battery packs are a legitimate long term concern. And it doesn't matter whether the LaF is driven or not. The batteries will age. That said. they should be considered a maintenance or consumable cost, albeit, an expensive one at that. Tires and fluids don't last. I have to admit, I had tribulations with the batteries but never the electric motor. It's brushless and should out last the NA engine. I'll leave you with this thought; I expect battery tech to improve and by the time my LaF cells needs replacing it should see an upgrade in capacity and charge/discharge characteristics.

    Two options:

Option A: that car is an investment. Don´t sell it, usually older=more expensive, so you´ll need 10 years more to get some money from LaFerrari.

Option B: the car is not an investment. Stop asking questions on the internet and drive the f***ing car to check if you like how it drives. That itself is going to answer lots of questions.

I have not. It is beautiful and the fastest Ferrari made which is quite amazing as I am pretty familiar with the F140 engine. Would love to drive the LF and feel how the e-motors augment the V12. But my belief is, over time, hybrids lead to smaller IC engines and eventually full electric which concerns me as a relative purist. I'll bet yours puts a huge smile on your face and rightly so. It is very special as is the Enzo.

I was told by my dealer that new battery packs at 5 years circa $130k but I think you are right on the battery progress.
