Yes it is... I hope they do a 289 Daytona some day. I also really hope they do a 250 GTO/LMB or 330 LMB someday so that we can build a complete set of GTO's. Also #6885 would be great to have in 1/12th scale!!!
06885 would be great but they need to correct the shape if they use 1/24 drawings... Buy a $5,000 3d hand held scanner, go to a concours and scan the real car
I like your choices! I also hope they do a 250 LM or P (250, 275 or 330). You seem very familiar with MFH kits, F1tommy. Can you tell me the differences between the MFH 1/24 250 LM short nose and long nose versions, aside from wheel styles? I just won the #21 car kit on eBay, but I don't know what to look for in photos. Do you have any pull with MFH? I'm curious to see if they'd consider making a non-working engine as an option for these kits so we could leave the moving one outside the car. I'm not looking forward to casting a resin copy of the engine so I won't waste the moving features. That and tires for the 1/12 rim set; I'd love to put those on the Revell 275 GTB after it's corrected.
The 'Revell' kit is not 1:12 scale - it's closer to 1:10, but I haven't bothered to measure it out. Just a note on this kit; it is very old tooling, has been issued and marketed many times since its original introduction. I received one all the way back around 1967 give or take as a birthday gift.
To a point, but they do seem to take suggestions from builders(and if any other company does it in 1/24th-1/20th they will also do it). Here are the 250 1962 Lemans Breadvan photos. Notice the nose shape, painted engine cover front section + holes and the dashboard shape. The wheels should be the same in all the 250LM kits. Other that the nose(front body) and a few small details between the cars the kits are pretty much the same. The only one with big changes is the 1968 Piper car. By the way, the 250LM was mastered by Climax of Japan. The Hiro is a re release.
Here are a few photos of the 1/12th scale breadvan I made using the very poorly done APM transkit. I did make the turn blinker holes a little to large in front and tried to make it look better than it was. I think the Miniwerks 3D rear fender looks more accurate. The body does seem to kick in a little half way down at the very rear just aft of the scoop I noticed when doing the body mods. The wiper is also to big. I think they really blew it on the nose when viewed in profile. And I agree...nice paint work. Miniwerks 3D? That would be ScaleAutoArt's 3D
Thank you...It does look better from this angle, but they did have all the ducts and scoops in the wrong places. The T-kit is a mess. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks to all who replied. I knew about the Climax origins, thanks to the Italian Horses website, but what I was trying to find out was what the differences in the noses looked like, or what changes were made to the noses. I see the Piper kit now on eBay has 5-spoke alloy wheels instead of wire wheels. It would be great if there was a comparison of the versions done somewhere. Lusso123: I got the Revell kit for $10, so I'll be using it for paint and modification experiments. ScaleAutoArt: That Breadvan you're doing looks amazing! Will you be using the Hiro '62 GTO for chassis parts, or will those be part of what you're building? I know I can't afford one, so I hope you do a detailed build article.
Thanks...and yes. It is intended to go onto a modified MFH GTO chassis. My guess is they might take a cue from what I am doing but this will be much better them anything out there. Just my humble opinion I will do a build thread on this. Most likely in the Miniwerks forum under special projects where it started.
Rear shot showing the rounded corners on top and the way it kicks in and squares out on the bottom sides. You can see a little bit of dashboard in this shot. I am hoping someone on ferrarichat has a good photo of it. Looks like it has no cover on the passenger side and a GTO style driver side dash cover. Image Unavailable, Please Login
They had limited time frame to get the car ready for Le Mans...and it shows. Look at how that rear widow is installed
Comparing the first and third photos that F1tommy posted of the #16 car, it looks to me like the dash top is indeed flattened out, but it also looks like the speedo is in its own housing between the dash and the steering wheel with the housing for that painted red with a chrome ring. Is that a possibility?
Possible...except that most of the interior was painted red so it could be something in the background. Fred Suber did a kit of the Breadvan in 1/43 with the flattened dash and he has a gauge arrangement. I am checking with him to see if he got his from a photo. We are revising the dash either way as well as the curve of the rear fender as suggested above. This was not obvious to me until I saw the full renderings. Thanks to those who pointed this out.
Hi here is a comparation between the two cars.Hope it may aid. All the best, Alessandro Image Unavailable, Please Login

Thank you for posting that, Alessandro. I didn't know Hobby Search carried MFH kits, so I was able to find listings for all the 250 LM versions to compare. Much appreciated.
