I'd adjust the rules on classifieds to require the listing to include an asking price.
I'll put this up once again; Everyone knows someone else on a another forum or facebook or whatever that is a interesting fellow or gal. Perhaps we as paying members should be able to pick one person per year to "gift" a 2 or 3 month FREE silver subscription too. A trial period. Some people I know are freaked by the "Ferrari" in Ferrarichat and thus wont give it a shot. (Frankly I could care less if an interesting person has a Ferrari or not) . If he/she likes it they might stay and add to the community. If not we tried.. Nothing lost.
When receiving (automated ?) email notice(s) for expiring subscription cycle, inclusion of actual date of said expiration would be nice courtesy.
+1 It is a royal pain to contact the seller only to find out they want a price that is way above the going market price. .
I'm sorry Mr. Lay, but following above directions didn't reveal the exact ending date of MY subscription. Perhaps I'm not following instructions correctly ? The email notice I received on 11-24-15 wasn't clear either, instead it had only somewhat vague phrase like "... your subscription is about to end...". It would be nice to know the exact date. Not being very computer savy myself, I was just wondering if it would be possible to have the exact end date automatically included in every subscribers expiry notice.
Well, one can "react" appropriately to adverts without prices. By ignoring them. I rarely inquire from persons, who do not mention anything with respect to a price or say "poa". Because the seller - to my experience and apparently yours as well - will ask a moon price. But they nevertheless find their customers, so insofar a legit marketing strategy .... Cheers, Bernhard
Interesting, I swear it use to have Subscription period info. I will have to keep looking. However, you don't need to wait for subscription to expire, when you get notice there is just a couple weeks left and your renewal will just be added to end, not overlap. Thanks.
Thank you Mr. Lay. I wasn't worried about overlap and expected the renewal being added to end of previous cycle, but having always nurtured an (old fashioned ?) habit of paying attention to all billing due dates to prevent lapses I just find it odd not seeing one.
That would suck!..... Yes. Andrew in particular seems to be pretty much on top of it all. Indeed. To a degree, that's always been the case; note the date of Tillmans sticky about how to put someone on ignore. But, it does seem to have gotten a lot worse over this past season. Hopefully it'll clam down some now the seasons over. Either that or we're all gonna go stir crazy and the wheels will truly fall off.... Cheers, Ian
You guys staying away doesn't help matters much. It's not going to get any better without people there to add genuinely valuable discussion and content other than the endless Hamilton-related waffle. As it is, we just get the fanboys posting about how Godly Hamilton is at everything he does and how he beats everyone, while the antifanboys post about what a whiney thug Hamilton is and how he'd never win without a superior car. Given that no other car is currently on par with the Mercedes at the moment, the debate cannot be settled even tentatively with real world examples and folks turn on one another instead to attack each other's bias, character, and intelligence. What sort of F1 section do you want? Lead by example. It would help to calm things down if people would steer topics back on point, ignore the crap (report it so I can deal with it), and refrain from off-topic things that only further derail threads - e.g. spamming "another thread bites the dust" when folks get snippy does nothing to improve the situation. If you don't want threads to bite the dust then don't let them do so - haul it back on track with positive content. Forceful moderation alone cannot fix the F1 forum, it can only help to turn things around. I'm willing to endure the headache of heavier moderation, but you guys are going to have to do more as thoughtful contributors if you want to see a more enlightened F1 forum. Sincerely, Andrew.
Fair comment, & point well taken....... I will henceforth do my best to do just that. It's just *so* frustrating to have to wade thru pages of 'he said, no, he said' BS in pretty much every thread. It sometimes seems that no matter the original topic we ways wind up with tens of 'he sucks, no he doesn't' posts. Cheers, Ian
What and where is the "F1 forum"? Does it deal with the Ferrari automated sequential transmission system? And if so, why does this relatively technological topic apparently upset so many?
Just drop the F1 section; Bernie has finally completely ruined it ... no need to discuss or follow it anymore. Semi-serious Pete
Rob, A member's car (308) was stolen this morning in Amsterdam. How about this? Some way for the member (MOD Approved) to send an "APB" to all members here via PM and establish connections to other "like-sites" (Reciprically of course) to also post there all automatically? When one of these classic cars disappears, make/model really doesn't matter, minutes really do count and I believe we all feel greatly for each other's loss. This is one way I think the entire community of owners and enthusiasts can come together even though we denesins may prefer competing marques and sites.
certainly user can post heads up thread, we may even be able to do a sticky or announcement thread in some situations. the two things we have to be careful on is 1) 150k users a high percentage of users would consider the unsolicited contact spam. 2) risk with just accepting word of user, Cavallino and FML did this once and both lost their asses in a lawsuit.
Those two reported cars "stolen" that were NOT stolen? If so, Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm? Must admit, I had not thought of that. Was just looking for a way to get the word out as fast as reassonably possible. I do absolutely concur about the Ads section. I think we really Need "For Sale" and "Wanted" to be seperate sub forums.
What's the deal when people post pics from Tapatalk? It shows up as a link which I then have to download to view. For example, post #1 of this thread: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/308-328-sponsored-yellow-compass-group/509844-funky-seat-centres-required-gt4.html This seems like it's not in the spirit of Fchat, since the pics should be on the F-chat server. By having a linked pic, there is the possibility that the link will get broken over time and 6 months from now, you will not be able to view the pic. It's also annoying because I have to download a pic to view it. Is there some way to fix/prevent this?
TapaTalk is pretty handy. After Son said he did *everything* from his phone (a couple of years ago) I gave that a try & don't even bother with tablets or larger. However, shortly after his proclamation, he went with larger tablets. Kids today! Punking geezers like they're going outta style! Wai- via Tapatalk
