Ferrari 488 GTB with 1,000+ PS prepared by xXx Performance
Just an exhaust and intake will be added? I am really not sure that the milkshake mixer will be able to take that. This could be a very expensive firework
Every little shop thinks they can tune a car until they blow one up. Happens every single time a new high profile car hits the market.
Thinking the same. It's a big increase in boost to get that power, and that will no doubt shorten the life of things.
Im surprised they could get that much power on stock turbos. Well at least it proves the theory that alot of tuners are going to add lots of hp to this car.
If Ferrari uses quality forged rods, I can think of a lot of things to go wrong before the rods. Compressor wheels is my first concern. Then there's the issue of how the rest of the top end will like the added boost and heat, along with pistons, and hardware such as plumbing, studs and bolts. But sure, a nice set of billet titanium rods would be nice.
I'm guessing this will void the warranty? The stress won't just be on the engine but on every system. The weakest link will be revealed.
I'm turbo hater and I love to see how turbo lovers crying because some embedded engineer can make Ferrari a 1000hp monster just with his laptop now I'm waiting for my beloved Daniel to bash me for this comment
You might get 1000 HP but the car probably is undriveable or has horrible turbo lag, not to mention emission issues. We all know Ferrari de-tuned the software to try to mimic n N/A engine. Take that away and you have a monster.
The F40 was designed as a track car. The car has tremendous turbo lag and nothing below 4000 RPM. Then... bang! A great track car but a lousy city car.
Agree the F40 isn't a comfy saloon but it can handle the city when required. A few weeks back I took my F40 into the city and got caught in the mother of traffic jams. Gridlock. I had to use back streets, rat runs all with countless speed bumps. You can't imagine the stress. Like being caught in the middle of the Atlantic in a rowing boat. But not once did my F40 complain. Sure, I was dumb trying but I live far out in the country, it was Sunday and I thought what the hell. She didn't let me down. Btw, the bang as you put it is hilarious and better than any roller coaster for thrills.
I think F40 is now famous because it was a once every 10 years model and the history of being approved by Enzo himself, so more of a collection. Maybe long time ago, this engine was very special. If Ferrari builds this kind of engine today and put it on California T for example, only car rental will buy it.
Actually the only downside of the F40 was the turbo, even by that time. That's why Ferrari never launched turbocharged after the F40.
Did someone at Ferrari say this or are you just projecting your anti turbo beliefs (obsession) again?
The F40 became famous because it was an amazing track car, and the fact that it was the first real 200 mph car was important too. The Enzo thing may have helped its status within Ferrari circles, but the icon the F40 is today in the eyes of most, is down to performance and design. When the F40 came out, there was no such thing as an every 10 year model. That started with the F50 so to speak. What does putting an F40 engine into a Cali T have to do with anything? Nobody would, and the engine in the Cali T works very well. The Cali T and the F40 have three things in common. 1. They are both V8's. 2. They are both turbo charged. 3. They are both flat plane crank engines. After that they are nothing like each other.
