Check the search function for this. The problem is that everybody has a favorite solution and brand. I think the correct type is 34R and you need a battery that has the nubbins on the bottom to engage the tr's holding tabs. Lots of people like gel cell, others like interstate brand and I like the small Mercedes battery. FWIW.

Actually Jeff, I think that MB battery that you posted is the stock size for a TR (Group 47):

CURRENT GENERATION - Ricambi America, Inc.

(note how the battery post areas are stepped down from the top like in the TR SPC figure), but you are right that a lot of TR people use the larger Group 34R.

Amps matters in a TR. More the better.

Yep, size matters. Along with things like how fresh, how well constructed and the proper mounting tangs. The first picture is of a 355....notice the bracket that holds the battery in place. The TR has similar hardware. I hate it when the battery flops around when the car is upside down. And you can spend extra for the super gold version from lots of places but they don't last longer. Care and charging has more effect on battery life. And stay away from OPTIMA as they are poorly made, expensive and don't mount properly onto the battery tray. This pic is on the 360 and not only hold the battery in place but gets rid of the angle bracket and "J" hooks that are too close to the battery terminals. FWIW

I am about to replace the battery in my ‘87 Testarossa. I am purchasing an Odyssey ODX-AGM34R. Summit Racing has them in stock.
