The confusion comes from the fact that 11001 is silver with recessed headlights and, at one time, so was 10287. One way to tell the difference between images of the two silver cars is that the taillights on 11001 are individually recessed, with a raised area in between. This is not so on 10287 while silver with twin taillights (once had triple-light arrangement).

The key to understanding which car is pictured in the b&w views are your two images above which were illustrating the different styles of tail light treatment. It also shows each car has an unique trunk lock mechanism. The caption is indeed wrong and the Ferrari shown is 10287 and not 11001. Note how the lock is mounted higher on 11001 than 10287.

A spectacular plexi Daytona is the show car 12301.
The image below gave a small indication of the work involved in getting 12301 show ready.

Some time ago Tom Shaughnessy mentioned>

Marcel's article on this special Daytona will come out in the future, as we find out more data and pictures from Hollywood Sport Cars and the Ferrari factory.

Where and when will the story about 12301 be published now that the Daytona has been judged at Cavallino?

The engine for Ferrari 11001 (also referred to "Royale" engine for the Can-Am) was purchased by Tom Meade back in those days because he wnated to do a "Nembo Royale" with this special engine. This car was however never realized.

Probably some different pictures with the feature article I mentioned earlier. However I never saw where the story was published anywhere.

Pale yellow over blue is certainly a 60's color combination. A long way from the corporate 'red' theme of today...

    Dears,
please note that the Special Daytona engine 11001 called Royale by Tom Meade and a few articles of the year it came out (I have copies if you are interested email me at [email protected]) is now in the Ferrari Museum. It's in the smaller one called Casa Enzo Ferrari if I am not mistaken

    Thank you
