    I bought a 1990 348ts this summer. The battery kept going dead, so put in a new one. It's dead again...however I haven't driven the car for about 3 weeks. Is it normal for 348's to have enough normal battery drain to smoke a battery in 3 weeks, or do I have a problem?

    Mine runs down if I leave the key in the ignition for a week or longer.

    Sounds normal to me, for just about any Ferrari. Even new ones. Leave it on a battery tender when not in use. 3-4 days not on a tender, you are ok. 4-5, maybe? 7 days off a tender? Not really.

    I would suggest battery tender brand. Go with the plus version if you have an AGM battery.

    Does your car have automatic seat belts. If so, read my write up as they are the culprit. If you disable them car can sit for weeks with no significant discharge.

    +1 Mine is also on a battery tender, C-TEK with a fixed connector to the battery so it's easy to connect / disconnect.

    I also use tenders on my cars not driven frequently but have had the need to leave my 348 with no charger in storage for several months. I went about four months before the battery started to get low. I do have an '89 so I don't have the mouse belts to worry about though.

    either turn the power disconnect switch off or use a ctek charger....either works fine.

    Thanks all, I know a tender is the answer. I do have the damn mouse belts, so guess that's the problem....thanks Bart! Just glad to know it's a normal problem. There is a "power disconnect switch"? Where is that?

    not sure on the 348 but on the 355 it is on the right side of the front trunk under a little cover....perhaps some one with a 348 can advise.

    Mine's on the driver side, under the access panel. 94, with battery in the front. Still need it on a tender though to keep the battery nice and healthy.

    My '90 has a red cylindrical battery disconnect plug/socket inline right near the left rear shock tower. I'm assuming your '90 has a rear battery, but I've heard that not all have the disconnect.

    Mine has mouse belts (now disconnected), but battery discharge was never really a problem for me even with them. I have a battery tender new in the box, but I keep forgetting to hook it up because it always starts right up :)

    I think if the 348 guys with the front or rear batteries could post a pic of their switches this would eliminate any confusion on the cut-off switch/location.

    Good suggestion cf355....would like to see pics. I have the rear battery, but have nothing around the shock tower. However, on one vertical strut of the left tower, I have two small holes and some residue, that leaves me to believe something was there at one time. ???
