Seems like all the newer cars are sporting LED daytime running lights, so I figured, what the heck? Maybe l can make an ancient car look slightly more in tune with the times.

    +1 on that "no".
I'm sure I'll get a lot of flak for saying this, but with the mood I'm in this morning, I couldn't care less...

I don't understand this constant obsession with trying to update a car's basic design elements into something the car simply is not.
A good friend in our local chapter keeps adding elements to his 360 to try and make it look more like a 430... If you don't love your 360 as a 360, then get a 430. And if you got the 360 because you couldn't afford the 430 that you really wanted then you should have waited and kept saving or not bought at all.
Don't bastardize a car to try and make it into something newer or "better". I see it as no different than lowly Honda Civic DX owners pathetically slapping EX badges on their cars.
Quit trying to turn it into something it isn't. Your car is from the 90s, LEDs didn't exist en masse then, leave it in its time period and be proud of what a gorgeous work of art it was then... AND NOW.

I already am a major non-fan of your popup headlight removal mod. The popups were iconic of the era, if you want something that has newer design elements and features, sell the "old" car and buy a newer one, don't keep chopping up and gluing **** on it which the next owner (if there is one... less likely the more you take it from original) will immediately revert. There are plenty of people in the world who would be more than happy to have even the most vanilla 348, no need to tart it up if it isn't satisfying you in its intended form.

And to clarify, I'm far from a purist or a concourse type... I say make the car your own, but remember it is also *ITS* own.. it's a 348, let it remain to be proud of itself as a 348.

    Let the flaming begin.

Like the LeMans style headlights a lot...for reasons you'll see soon. But then, I've removed my fogs for brake ducting too. I'm sure I'll get a lot more flak when I'm done, but don't care...it's mine and I can do whatever I want without somebody else's approval....well, maybe I need the wife's approval, but you know what I mean.

It's his car to do as he pleases. Different strokes for different folks. If he's happy, that's all that matters. The next owner can undo the mods if they chose.

    Another vote for NO!

But, if you insist on doing it, put them around the head lights, not the fog lights.

    I still say no though.

I would say inside the headlights just long the bottom under the 2 lights.

    Pattern
Get one of the continuous light tubes, not that dot pattern.

Yipes, please don't burn me at the stake! Although my inability to leave my car alone can have results of questionable taste, it also has resulted in a whole slew of videos on 348 repairs and projects from 8 chapters of cam belt/major service to CV boot replacement (I have yet to figure out how 8000 348s were made, but the first part of the cam belt video series has been viewed 32,000 times. Must be people with insomnia looking for a nap). Hopefully my positive Karma inputs have outweighed the negative.
I promise I'll take the LEDs off, but sorry, the headlights will stay for the time being. For those inclined to Trump-like rage, all my car mods can be returned to a bone stock 348 with a few sockets and a screw driver. No need for knickers to get tied in knots...

Personally speaking, I like your headlight mod - It's nicely done and looks "factory".

( I still prefer the standard pop-ups but then I'm a kid from the 70's and pop up headlights were very exotic back then - They made cars more special!).

As for the LED's - I'm another in the no camp!

The reason being, you've done such a nice professional looking job on the headlight mod that it makes the LED's look like you simply couldn't be arsed to go into the same level of detail again and just double sided taped them to the car - Ghetto style! (no disrespect intended!).

TBH, they just look too out of place on the 348 as it's an old car now.

(If I want to use lights for DRL's then I'm afraid I'm a bit naughty and use the front fog lights until it gets dark, then I swap over to the pop-ups and turn the front fogs off)

At the end of the day though, it's your car and so long as you're happy then that's all that matters! :)

I actually like your headlights but the led has to go my friend. I'm all for trying new things to a point:) and like led lights in general. This looks like the same as if you put led lights on your toaster. Some places led lights look way off.

As someone who has really enjoyed watching your "grass routes" vids on YouTube I think this is one project best left unfilmed. One positive, the LEDs completely mask the headlight mod, I totally missed that the first time I viewed the picture, I had to go back and take a second look after someone mentioned it. :)
