Lots of threads about price bubbles.
What goes up always comes down at some point.
So what ferrari, or "collector" car would you buy when the car bubble crashes or deflates.
Which also means how much do you think prices would come down an various cars.

Personaly I think all things being equal this market has possibly another 50% to go, based on where things went previously. Or it may be at the top and deflating already.

My opinion is cars like TRs will settle intot he 75-80k range and 308's 50-60.

But scuds and Cs? 458s will plumet below 100 360-430s they are going to the 50-70k range or lower. 599s already pretty cheap, can they go where 550s were into the low 80s.

I'm not sure 458's will see sub $100K for a LONG time.

If there were a huge correction in the market I would be all over a 599 GTO.

    I love that car!!!

"Il Gobbone" is maybe a good candidate. Alone this nickname .... ;o))).

The advantage may be, that some guy in the meanwhile has attented to all that was neglected with those cars in the last one or two decades. He will have paid quite a bill, that you need not spend then ... :D.

By the way, I like this specific model very much and completely disagree with this nickname. Was always considering it as a tempting alternative to what I then actually bought (in those times unloved Lamborghinis). I even hat ordered an expert for a PPI of a car standing at Arden about 10-15 years ago, but every time he turned up there (upon appointment), the car was just somewhere else ..... :D, so that was a no-go in this case (cost me 300.--€ for nothing).

It's not that complicated for me. The 308 is among my favorite cars, and of those it's far and away the least expensive even at current prices.

My wanted list hasn't really changed much. If Daytonas fell precipitously, I could be tempted into one of those, or a 246 GTS.

The more recent stuff... not sure I want any of them out of warranty.

    I'd love a 599. or 550.

sadly the 458's will not be Sub 100K for a long time if ever. at any price it is a spectacular car.

I think 308s will drop back below $40K at some point. If 360s drop to $50K, it would be hard for most enthusiasts to pay similar money for a 308.

I'd still like to pick up a 308, but prices will have to settle way back down before I see the value there to get me to part with my (admittedly limited) dollars. If prices on the newer cars slide far enough, I think I might be drawn to a three peddle 360 instead.

Seriously, many of the rather "unliked" cars are now receiving the necessary attention, i.e. service, repairs, interior, paint jobs, etc., that were not profitable in former times, because even the costs of a large service would have been a considerable fraction of the cars value.

So we will be seeing these cars return to the market in a much better condition than they were just a few years ago. And I believe that most sellers (at least those, who have not financed ;)) will then either sell the car at a more moderate price, but never so low like a few years ago. Or keep the car waiting for the next hype ...

It all depends on who's buying them. A lot of people who are now in their 40s and 50s can finally afford a fun car so they buy what they grew up with or what they wanted when they were younger.

This doesn't hold as true for Ferrari as it does for other brands but still makes a bit of a difference.

Nope a 3008 is going to be worth more than a 360. A 360 is just an obsolete modern car, a 308 is arguably a classic ferrari, or at least it has all the atributes of one. The performace delta between a 360 and 308 is also irrelevant as they are both old, one is just more classicaly desireable than the other..

Eventualy the 360 will ocupy the place the 308 once held as the bargain performance buy while the 308 moves up a notch.

Either way if the bubble deflates you will get your 50K 360, it may not even take a deflation.

Either the 360 F1 or 430F1 will end up being an absolute bargain when the market correction takes place, I am perfectly fine with the "slow" F1 gearbox....

These might be long shots but if:

330 GTC comes back to the ~300k range

275GTB comes back to the ~1m range

288 comes back to the 750k range...

Finally if the "bubble" really busts- I will be looking for a 1957 335 S.

In all honesty, if the cars go on sale, I will want them all. :)

    I'd be all over a sub $100K 458 in a second.

Second would be a 599 GTO

    Followed by a stick 599

Even in this discussion everybody (else) ignores the 365 GTC/4 :D. I will then take a nice one (dark blue with cuio interior) for a grab!!! :D.
