These 330's are really pretty, so I decided to build a 1/18 model.
These are the pictures of the work so far:

8727 - an early GTC - was Sergio PF's personal car. It also had the pop up lights and many other unusual features - some of which were similar to 365 GTC features.

    I owned and restored it.

See page 275 of Ferrari by Pininfarina by Cornil for a photo.

Here's their PR description, though I am sure the catalog has a more complete description:
    1966 Ferrari 330 GTC Speciale
    (Estimate: $3,400,000-$4,000,000)
Unveiled at the Brussels Motor Show in 1967, the 330 GTC Speciale was hailed as a brilliant Ferrari-Pininfarina collaboration. The modern design captured the very essence of late 1960s motoring, combining features from Pininfarina’s latest show and concept cars. One of only four examples ever built, and featuring razor-edge lines, curved glass and trailing pillars creating a dramatic and beautiful effect, chassis 10107 was initially sold to an important and influential customer – Maria Maddalena Da Lisca. The heiress of a prominent Tuscan family, Maria Maddalena was the wife of famed Italian pasta manufacturer Pietro Barilla, who was a personal friend of Enzo Ferrari. This car has been thoroughly documented by Ferrari historian Marcel Massini and is an ideal entry into the finest international concours d’elegance."

It looks good in dark blue, at first I thought the scale model shown here was too stretched out but looking at the picture in the Gooding ad, I think the car really looks like that in person

All I want to know is, was this one or any of the other five of almost identical body style ever offered cheap becauae "they didn't look like a regular Ferrari?"

A good friend owned 10107 in the late 1970's. It was not cheap compared to other Ferrari's even back then.

I owned and restored this one...an early GTC that was owned be Sergio Pininfarina himself.

It had many special features (and I believe it was the prototype for the 356 GTC) including pop-up headlights. The glass/roof were normal though.

08727 was sold by Pininfarina S.p.A. on the 8th July 1967 to the second owner, more than one year before the first 365 GTC was ever built.

Very cool! Seems like the serial number should be 8-007 and there should be machine guns popping up when you flip the lights :)

You have all of the secret data - so it is difficult to disagree.

    However:

1 8727 was the first 330 GTC to have the engine air vents in the hood, and not in the side fender. This feature was then used in the 365 GTCs. Wasn't it a prototype feature??

2 Also, 8727 was the first (only?) 330 GTC to have the angled defrost vents on top of the dash. Again, this feature was then incorporated into the production 365 GTCs. Again, wasn't this a prototype feature?

You certainly don't believe that the Pirelli (or Angelli ?) 330 GTC that was built a few weeks before the first 365 GTC was the prototype - as is often said. Prototypes are typically built with a long enough lead time so that new features can be tested and evaluated.

    Thanks, Aardy.

The photo attached, amongst other photos, shows the same car with pop-up headlights and the budge bar, which was not mentioned earlier in this discussion. Also, one would not be able to see it in the previous photo I posted due to the quality of the photo.

Your new pic is clearly Frankfurt : you can even see the rear wheel of the white 365 California (s/n 10155) in the background...

All 330/365 Ferraris are "special" and great, but there seems to be a number of so called "Speciale" cars that are not so different and extra special over the other cars within this group that are not justified to be called a Speciale, including this one and #10581 (although I'm certain the current owner of which would disagree with me, judging by the extra they paid for it). Whilst a little different in specification, it's more than a stretch to call them such. "Transitional" or "Variation" would be better words to describe these cars.

Along with other GTC cars specified in this thread, 375 MM 0402AM and 275 GTB Competizione 06885 are examples of a Speciale. Just my opinion.

I'm almost sure your car is the ex-Peugeot family 330 GTC, s/n 8785...

Today, it has lost its pop-up headlights...

You are right : in this thread, only 9439, 9653, 10107 and 10241 should be called "330 GTC Coupe Speciale".

All the others (8727, 8753, 8785, 9571 etc) are just common 330 GTC with special features like pop-up headlights. Nothing more...

I owned and restored this one a couple of decades ago. It had the pop-up lights, no fender vents, a 365 GTC hood, and a host of other odd ball features, including a sliding lever control to operate the wing vents.

    Original owner - Sergio Pinninfarina.

    Pretty speciale I'd say.
