Has anyone rebuilt their axles? Replacing the rubber boots, and refurbishing the whole unit? If so does anyone have a quick reference link to a step by step? My boot is torn and im leaking grease down the shaft which is also getting onto the headers.

    Remove axle from car.
Remove snap ring from end of axle.
    Remove clamps and old boot.
Remove axle shaft from CV joint.
    Clean up the mess.
Fit new boot with additional grease.
    Reassemble.
    Drink beer.

Its that easy??? Theres no internal parts that have to be replaced? Theres just a bunh of grease under the rubber boot and i just need a new boot and snap rings?

Tim means you clean up the balls and races, reassemble with new grease and boots.

It's not really difficult but you'll want to wear rubber gloves.

The hardest part is removing the snap ring.

I found the best way to clean the joints is to take them off the shaft and drop them into a tub of regular heating oil, then wash with a stiff brush. Obviously you need to make sure that no road grit has got through the split in the rubber boot. If you want to you can take the joints apart and wash everything separately, but make sure you reassemble in the right order.

Do they make a silicone boot? Cause we all need them.

Easy, but messy!!! It's the same as every other CV joint really.

I had axle work done at the major. Not sure what all that entailed.

I did this jobs few months ago. My boot had just torn so the grease inside was not gritty or contaminated.

I still cleaned all the old grease out but did not disassemble the joint. Took a case of brake cleaner lol. Then packed with new grease and new boots. This was the trans side.

The wheel side was intact so I just added more grease and new boot.

Topped of with gothspeed cv boot shields.

Not difficult but messy as hell.

If you don't want to fiddle with the joint, you can r & r the shaft and have a shop do the refurb.

Recommend AW Italian for the boot kit.
