I'm staying one exit down from JD this week. I've done the tour on a previous trip, eaten at Mrs. Mary Bobo's, etc. In my opinion, the tour is the best thing JD offers. Since its different, let us know how it compares to regular JD. That said, if it was mine, I'd trade it for some good KY product :D

    Enjoy it!

    Regards,

    Art S.

I ran out of Noah's Mill and my local source was out so I got some other stuff. Bib and Tucker was discussed earlier and I know its good, I also got Evan Williams single barrel and Slaughter House.

Slaughter House is an 'American Whiskey' from Napa; its by the same guy that makes Straight Edge, which was good but not extraordinary (don't bother getting Straight Edge, there's cheaper stuff that's on par with it) I'm on my first neat shot and so far Slaughter House is surprisingly good with a great finish. It's in the low $40s - but, to me, it reminds me of higher end Buffalo Trace products. Has anyone else tried this, do they like it?

    Regards,

    Art S.

Curious if anyone has tried Old Grand Dad before and your opinion. Just tasted for the first time.

Today I strolled through the Chelsea Market in Manhattan. The Chelsea Wine Vault store had a bottle of 15-year old Pappy Van Winkle for sale at $1,299.00. I didn't bite.

I scored a bottle of Pappy Van Winkle 12 year the other day. When I got it I bought a bottle of the W.L. Weller 12 year since it was around $20. I can tell you the Weller 12 year is excellent. I'll save or sell the Pappy, not sure yet.

If you're thinking of selling, let me know your asking price. I'm not a buyer at the crazy market rates, but could be if the number is reasonable.

I heard Lot "B" wasn't nearly as good as Lot "A".

(Just kidding...congratulations and enjoy! We're all jealous.).

Picked up a bottle each of Blantons single barrel and Angels Envy over the holiday break. Both excellent drinks. Oddly, the Blantons was purchased at BJs for like $41 a bottle and now I can't find another bottle of the stuff anywhere. Must get bought up as holiday gifts?

There is a national shortage of Blantons (seriously). At $41, that's a steal. I haven't paid less than $60 (when I can find it) in a few years.

Figured I should have stocked up at that price! Another place called "Total Wine", sort of a liquor big box store, has Blantons single barrel shelf-tagged at $41 also but there's no bourbon on the shelf there!

Knob Creek 120 is really growing on me. That said I'm on my second glass so, my judgment may be affected. :D

I think we had this exchange before but yeah, it's really good. I think for the money the Knob Creek 100 is better though. It's less than $30 a bottle here. It's syrupy, just like the 120, with lots of caramel and sweetness. Until I picked up the W.L. Weller Special Reserve (at less than $25 a bottle!) it was my drink.

That being said there is so much good stuff out there now it's hard to choose from.

Although many people love Angel's Envy, I'm really not a fan of it. Especially for the price. IMO there are much better options out there.
