Damn, that looks wimpy. Maybe they should frost the glass over the engine bay
To be clear, its the intake manifolds that are painted plastic. I remarked about the valve covers serving as cam bearing caps.
Looks great. Makes the 458 engine look like it's from last century. This is what a modern Ferrari engine should look like.
You do realize that virtually everything you see in that engine bay is plastic vice the throttle bodies and the oil cap? IMO absolutely NOT what a modern Ferrari engine bay should look like. Or does the addition of the word 'modern' allow for such prodigious use of plastic? Reference the current F12 engine bay if you need a baseline of Ferrari engine greatness. I have no horse in the 458/488 race but sometimes I hear a few winners.
I have also a problem with the usage of all these plastic fairings in an engine bay. But it seems to me that's a general problem, a problem with a system behind. I open a hood of any standard model (for example a F12 engine bay) and see first cheap and boring black plastic with a little bit red intake manifold in the deep of the engine compartment. But of course, there is a workaround, for a lot of good money I can buy really attractive carbon covers as an option. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Amazing this engine makes 40% more power than the V-8 lump on the F40, which is huge and heavy in comparison.
I correct myself, THIS is "just a little bit red in the deep of the engine compartment". Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thankfully I funded both of my kids 529 college funds at birth so the Mrs can't use that logic on me. Considering I'm keeping my 991 991TTS with my incoming 488 that's a lot of college/turbos....
