Has anyone had an intermittent flashing of a "slow down" message when the car is fairly cool and moving slowly?

It would help if you could, for starters, tell us something about the car such as model, year and mileage. The only car in your profile is a 72 365 GTC/4 which doesn't have those electronics.

I've had that message on my 575. Mine hasn't repeated so far but I am watching out for it. You will have to be very careful and watch if it comes on and/or stays on. I am not familiar with the exact details or reasons behind it but it has to do with the catalytic converter and if the message stays on you could potentially damage the engine or it could start a fire and the car may burn to a crisp (at least that's what I've been told). You need to bring it in to get checked out right away.

My 550 Maranello displays the Slow down when I start it up in the garage. The Germans really "F"ed the Italians when they sold them this Motronics piece of s**t. I have found that the best thing to do is cover the display with a strip of black tape. When the car stops I call AAA.

These warnings are sometimes false, due to problems with the ECU, or electrical issues.

Take it to a competent shop to diagnose and repair if needed.

I took this POS to a ferrari dealer and they told me after using the SD2 that it needed $9600.00 worth of new shocks with only 39,000 miles on the car. Which I fixed with a $40.00 part from Ricambi. Ferrari better get their act together or the are going to be out of business

yes and I found it to be a bad cat ecu.. they are available from Ricambi and take about 5 minutes to replace.. you could by one and try it on either side. or you could do like I did and buy 2. THey are located in the engine compartment ..and tend to get moisture in them as they age
if you search this section you will see many threads on it.. I replaced mine about 3 years ago and no problems since..

I had a similar issue. Changed both ecu's, problem is gone. I sleep better at night.
I agree, super easy to replace. Both will take 30 minutes, maximum.

Same here. Replaced both ECUs but also the cat probes -- not sure the last step was necessary.
