I can't fit my drivers side window as I'm still waiting for the rubber bushings to arrive. I still had the problem of the broken red pipe which acts as a cable guide. Does anyone know where to get this pipe ? I bought some 1/4" pipe at Home Depot which I cut to size. I then hollowed out the end with a scissor blade so it would go over the end of the metal cable guide. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Next I decided to investigate my "left turn signal doesn't work when the lights are on" problem. After testing the passenger side I discovered the following. The manual and the reality (at least on my car) are very different. The attached picture is page L7 from the owners manual. It seems to suggest that there are 4 lights in the lower light cluster. A - daytime flasher B - front turn signal F - parking light G - fog light. On my car however there is no G. The bulb is not there. A, the daytime flasher, seems to server as both that as well as the fog light. Also B and F are linked. When I put the lights on both B and F are steady and when the turn signal comes on they flash. Is that the behavior on other peoples cars ? Or has somebody done a "job" on mine ?
Knowing that (on my car) the lights and turn signal circuits seem to be linked I decided to pull the front lower light assembly to see what was going on. To the left of the light there is a metal piece that clips on to hide the screws. I used a small flat screwdriver to prise it out Image Unavailable, Please Login
The light then slides out. On my car there are three wires to disconnect. Image Unavailable, Please Login
4 Phillips screws hold the back cover on. There are also little plastic washers on the screws which get lost easily. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Not knowing if this was my problem, I took out the passenger side and swapped them around. I then confirmed that the drivers side worked perfectly and the problem had moved to the passenger side. So the issue was the wiring in the light assembly. Image Unavailable, Please Login
After much testing with an electrical tester I found the problem which is this. The yellow bulbs have three wires going to them. One is ground. The other two are the turn signal circuit and the side light circuit. The ground had failed. So when the lights are on, the ground side of the flasher circuit has going into the side light circuit and so the bulb didn't flash. (Btw. This picture is after I tried to clean it up) The immediate fix, which I have done, is to remove the bulb. This allows the two circuits not to merge and the turn signals now work with lights on and off (albeit very slowly !) The longer term fix is to repair the broken ground. According to the parts diagram you cannt just order the bulb holders, so instead I bought a selection of 1157 bulb holders from Amazon to see if I can repair / replace it. If anyone knows how to get the original bulb holder, without buying a whole new unit, please let me know. Image Unavailable, Please Login
My center console button is popping out. Also the key I have doesn't work in this lock. I decided to take it apart to see what's up Image Unavailable, Please Login
The thread in the barrel has gone so the nut doesn't hold it anymore. Also the piston is useless also, as it doesn't hold the cover up at all. I remember reading on Jeff348 thread that he had the same issue. Need to investigate the cost of the parts Image Unavailable, Please Login
Next job was to take the dash apart. The primary goal was to remove the two seatbelt warning lights from the broken "mad mouse" seatbelt setup. Secondary goal was to replace the handbrake and water temp lights as they don't seem to work The dash is held in by two screws on either side of the steering column. They are a little hard to reach.... Image Unavailable, Please Login
To get the dash out, you just need to disconnect the electrical cables. However I could seem to get any of the cables free and wasn't in the mood to break any. So I replaced / removed the bulbs with the dash in place. There are little red nuts on the back which turn 1/4 to release the bulb. Good news is that I removed the seatbelt bulbs. Bad news is that replacing the water and park bulbs didn't actually make them work. So that's another job for the list. Image Unavailable, Please Login
For whatever it's worth, I removed the mouse belts control boxes from my car and there are no warning lights. Did you source your car from FL? I remember seeing a black/gray one for sale there several months ago.
Hi mike. I got the car from Wyoming. Where are the mouse control boxes ? Has anyone had any luck in fixing them ? Is it the control box that is typically the problem ? I have this on my list, but it's way down on the priority list.
So my new one way valve came from Amazon and having put everything back together the washers now work ! Yeah ! Image Unavailable, Please Login
