I am looking for a MB G-wagon, 2009-2011, decent miles (under 40k), excellent condition, clean carfax. Something in the $40's or $50's

I don't think you find anything newer than an 09 for less than mid to high 50-60k

I have been watching the market for a while and the car you seek is a solid 60-70k car, unfortunately.

Well, I tend to agree, but thought maybe I'd find someone wanting to unload one. If I had to go into the $60's I could for the right truck.

How many kids? How old? And how much stuff comes with them?

Not nearly as practical as an SUV with a folding it permanent 3rd row

    Hemmings has two, a 2010 and a 2011.
Both close to 50K on the speedo, and both right at $66 K.
Also a 2000 for $36 K, and the rest are way higher.

I would only buy the AMG version (G55 or G63), that is what my wife drives and she loves it, that being said, if it is a long trip, we ALWAYS take the Range Rover, G Wagons are cool but they are not comfortable for a long drive...

I've owned 7 Gwagens. I wouldn't use the word practicle and GWagen in the same sentence unless your daily commute was off-road. Most buy this model for the aesthetics as nearly any other SUV in its class will offer better fuel economy, better comfort and handling hands down. There's nothing rationale about purchasing a G. Test drive one and if you like it, buy it.

Do you have one currently? You're right about practicality; 10-12ish MPG etc. but we don't buy these cars by looking at the right side of the menu. I love the experience of looking down on the roadway..

That said, I'm tempted by a Tesla. Driving one was an instant paradigm shift on cars; an adult-sized go cart with futuristic technology.
