How would you make FerrariChat.com better?

Could someone please add rich text editing like 99.999999% of the other boards have? It's not 1997 anymore.

 

Tapatalk is handy on iPhones as the traditional page you need a lot of time zooming in and out just to read/click/tap. My fingers too fat.

Seriously, if people choose the correct photo sharing method via "attachment" instead of via "Tapatalk", everything should show up correctly.

 

I really hope that doesn't happen, I really like the clean look and feel of FChat. Besides, you can do a reasonable amount of editing just by looking up the code, for example:

Might be a good idea to add the list of State abbreviations to the name of the New England Section?

We just had a MA PPI Request thread started in the Mid-Atlantic Section.

Also, the New York Tri-State Section could also benefit from listing those 3 States (NY, NJ, and CT, true?).

Other forums like this provide automatic updates -- that is, when someone adds to a thread to which you've already commented/subscribed, you receive an email. Works beautifully.

That works the same way here. Check your personal Control Panel.

 

I'd love a feature which would notify you whenever one of your post was quoted.

 

Download Tapatalk. I use it for the alerts only and open the site in the browser.

Yep, the other section that could probably use the States added to the name is "NorthWest".

I assume that's Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana, true?
Is Alaska in that one too?

I think this forum is great; well organized and run well. If anything I'd say less moderator involvement and censorship. I am not a fan of restriction of language and I think it's childish to censor words. Tolerance goes both ways. I also like the idea of a democratic ban vote system. I don't mind flame wars. I find them enjoyable every now and then. I also think this place would be better if everyone agreed once and for all that the 488 does not sound very good and that the turbo is messing up the sound.. ��

It hardly censors the meaning of your post, merely filters out profanity. Just type out whatever swear word you want in full and let the system replace the ones it needs to with asterisks. Not everyone wants to see swear words written out, have them detected by their servers (might be at the office), and will be able to discern what you meant anyway from the context and length of the word.

By the way, circumventing the filter normally incurs a 1-day ban per offence. However, I forewent that in favor of an explanation in the edit message because you are so new to the site. ​

Re: Democratic ban vote system

You're very fortunate such a system was not in place upon your arrival since most people thought you were a teenager pretending to be shopping for a car upon your arrival and you were reported to me as such by multiple people. A democratic vote might not have given you the benefit of the doubt and sufficient time to prove yourself. I think such a voting system would be a surefire way to encourage cliques to form and gang up on less popular users, and discussions of whether or not the community wanted to implement a ban would dominate far too many discussions.

In short, I think that's a terrible idea. ​

As for the rest:

I've little opinion on the 488. My tastes are for the 348. However, sound is subjective, so I suspect there are probably some who think it sounds just fine. We haven't even settled the debate between manual and F1 gearboxes, so I wouldn't hold your breath on resolving opinion on natural aspiration versus turbocharging. ​

As always, very well stated (& formatted ) sir! Totally agree on all points.

One thing I'd really like to happen, but suspect it may be a technical nightmare, is to not 'mark' everything, everywhere as 'read' when logging out. I come & go, or get timed out and often miss stuff as a result.
