Thought I'd show a picture, although a bad one, of the cable adjustment for the seat tilt. Someone has discussed it here before, but I think a picture helps. Don't waste time removing the big cover on the back of the seat. It doesn't help. Ask me how I know. There are two cables leading from the black release handle. They go down to either side of the seat.

You need to remove the small panels at the bottom-back-corners of the seat. There is one panel on each side of the seat. On the "door" side it is attached with one M4 screw that uses a 2.5mm allen key, and the seat belt bolt which uses a 17mm socket. On the "interior" side the panel uses 2 M4 screws. If you have a "L" shaped allen key you can get the "interior" panel off without removing the seat.

Once in there, a 10mm open end wrench is used to adjust the 2 nuts controlling cable length. In my case, only one cable needed adjustment to get the seat back to release reliably.

A small note, the M4 screws have no corrosion protection(only black phosphate coating), so they get light surface corrosion. (Come on Ferrari, how cheap can you get on a $250K car!) You might want to have some black paint handy to clean them up, or do what I did and buy a few M4 X 12mm long 0.7mm thread pitch flat head stainless screws for $0.02 each and paint them black.

Just keep working on these things and you'll discover how cheap! I have been working on all kinds of cars for years and I would describe Ferraris as the definition of love/hate. How they take such outrageous shortcuts and then have the nerve to charge what they do still baffles me - but never the less, I still keep going back for more. I might learn one day.
When you come to taking the seat apart to replace/repair the position sensors amongst other things you will be asking how anyone can design a seat that requires totally dismantling just replace a sensor that they charge a king's ransome for and is now no longer available. Fortunately there are answers for people like us and it doesn't involve Enzo's mates. Things can get better with age. Never give up!

I have gone though the 456 seat pain many times, I found it much easier to take the seat out and work on it on a bench. Beware, it is very very heavy !!!!! But once out, you can hook the seat up to a 12v supply and access most things that need fixing. It is almost as much of a pita as adjusting the windows!!!!! Of course all the parts are very expensive from Ferrari, but most can be sourced elsewhere, as its just metric setscrews and basic micro-switches, the seat pots and seat ecu may be a little harder to source cheaply though.

Despite numerous attempts, I have yet to get the seat-back/movement forward operation to work consistently, it seems to have a mind of its own, almost like an Italian steel and aluminium version of a woman!!!!
