I have quite a bit of time in an IO 520 Baron that has had this treatment. What started out as a 285HP engine we estimated a boost to 300-310HP. The airplane performed noticeably better-better acceleration, vastly improved climb, and slightly faster cruise, all for about 1/2 gal higher fuel flow per engine.

I like those as well. Is 2500 RPM normal cruise? I vaguely thought it was lower, but then it's been 25 years since I've flown a Baron...

I use 2400 normally, but this was break in. Not quite the 75% per book, but close. Initial climb at 200#s under gross was 2.1k, about 4-5 above book.

I love the digital engine gauges!
Years ago I flew a V-35 Bonanza for a communications company. It had started life as an IO520 with 285HP. After having flown it in that configuration for quite some time, the owners sent it to Colemill to install a 300 HP IO550 with a four blade Q tipped prop.
WOW! Just like yours, at level cruise up to 8,000 feet the VSI was always just bumping the bottom of the yellow arc. Serious power management was required for that airplane. It also had an astonishing climb rate. (It "probably" could carry more weight also-a lot more weight-again careful management of the airplane required) Same could be said of the Baron I flew with the same treatment.

Neat. There is a turbo normalize kit. If I were to install that (another 50k) it would be a 250 kt plane. I hate oxygen though.

I understand on OX, the nose cannula isn't great, but not that bad even 4 hour flights. a secret had a nurse show me was run the tubes over your ears and tighten under your chin. I love the 10-17k altitudes because hardly anyone flys there, you get direct everywhere.

Brought plane back for prop balancing and some adjustment. 6500 feet, 2500 rpm 202 kts. Climb 2.53 best rate (full fuel) cruise climb 1.3k. Plane is about 10-12 kts faster, but 40 gallons an hour. With 3.80 fuel so what....
