Assuming everyone is registered at the Ferrari owners site, when I log into the site and go to "your garage" my car is listed along with the original color code (name and number). This was done by Ferrari when I registered.

Last week I made contact with that Lisa Petrone lady and she was quick to respond. She claims to have tried too and then email responded with two options:

$500 fee to have some Ferrari source service (I forget who) look into and obtain the certificate.
$2,500 fee to have the factory dive into their archives and get the info. But no guarantees.

    I told her I pass.

I just tried the FOC site again today to see if anything changed. No word yet.

Yes, I got that part on line too, only my color is listed as Rosso Corsa fer 300 (no /# after it). Then when I went to request the fancy certificate, things bombed out from there.

I do have one number for Ms. Petrone and one general number. I do not know if the general number is just a main line or if its for the Classiche Department. I got Ms. Petrone's name from Ferrari Customer Service Staff after I emailed them to find out the original color of my dashboard. As mentioned she was able to email me with the original color pelle rosso. However, pursuant to some new rule/bulletin from Ferrari that came out in 2005 (which she sent to me), you now have to pay a fee, submit pix of the car. I emailed that stuff to Ms. Petrone and she emailed them to her source at the archives in the Classiche Department. About 10 days later the document arrived from Italy and was then Fedex'd to me. I'd be more than happy to give you her phone number but I think you will run into the same 2 options she gave you about buying the document or bringing the vehicle to a Ferrari Dealer for the Classiche Certification process.

Here is the Contact information I have.

    Hi BwanaJoe.
If you give to me the exact size of the sticker, I could try to make a new one for you. This will take a bit of time but for sure I think that the final result will be OK -except for the final cut, hand cut-. Let me try.

Thanks Dino. I'll look further into this. By bringing the car into a F dealer for inspection, does that reduce or even eliminate the fees to pay?
How much was the fee you paid and do you think it was worth it?

I'd have to check but I think it was around $300. The documents I got from the Classiche department is like a more detailed heritage certificate as it also mentions carpet color, dashaboard color, and the name of the dealer it was originally delivered to. If you look at a heritage certificate it basically just mentions the exterior color and the color of the seats...it ignores the dashboard presuming its either black or brown, but I've seen other Ferraris a black 328 and a silver TR with all red interiors including a red dashboard. For me it was worth it, as I do not have the window sticker and my car has seats, door panels, hand brake, and transmission tunnel in crema leather BUT my dashboard, connecting door pulls and map pockets are red. When ever I would take the car to shows, I would always get asked if it was original or if I had the dashboard died red. This document from the Classiche department in Maranello is proof that the car was originally delivered with a red dashboard and crema interior. I have since had the document laminated to preserve it. I do think it might have been nice to also get with the document a letter that would be a little more personal, Dear Mr. M our archives indicate that vehicle X was delievered with the following options/colors etc., and maybe it could have been signed by someone in the archives department.

While its not inexpensive for a 1 page document, I am glad that I got the document. Now I keep it with my heritage certificate and other 328 documents.

    Best regards,
    Dino

Bringing the car to a Ferrari dealer for inspection does not reduce or elimiate the fee. In fact, the main reason to bring the car to a dealer would be to have them put your car through the Classiche Program...whereby they certify whether your car is still in its original state (colors, wheels, engine, exhaust, etc). Then you get a binder with pictures and a certificate stating your car is in its original colors/state. This costs about $2,500. I believe you have to send in an application and a non-refundable deposit of about $500. There is no guarantee your car will be certified, as they might discover something is not original/accurate. Also the car must be 20 years old (from date of vehicle production, not the year the model was released) or it must be a specialty vehicle like a US spec F40 or F50 (both are less than 20 years old).

My car is not 20 years old so I could not go through the Classiche program as its an 89 328. I believe it cost around $300 to get the more detailed documentation about my car (it lists vin #, exterior color (with color code), interior color (with color code), dashboard color (with color code), carpet color, original dealer car was delivered to and month & year the car was delivered to the dealer. I had to email them some pix of my car including the vin # on steering column and door plaque, the current registration.

As mentioned in another post in this thread the document is like a more detailed Heritage Cerificate. I am glad I got it as do not have the original window sticker but this helps prove that my 2 tone interior is original to the car and that its not some "franken-vehicle" with aftermarket work to dye certain parts of the interior a different color.

    Best regards,
    Dino

If you are just looking for the paint code number, maybe a dealer can help you. But probably anything beyond that, they will not be able to do as they have no access to the Ferrari Classiche Archives. In addition, I do not think the dealers will/can supply you with documentation about your vehicle unless you take it to the dealer that originally sold the car and then only if per chance they still have any copies of sales related information about your specific vehicle. I doubt most dealers have copies of sales materials from a 20+ year old sale.

I contacted Ron Tonkin, which is the dealer that sold my car, to ask for any old sales info on my car (old sales receipts/window sticker) and they said they have some old documents in storeage in a wearhouse. But its not very convenient for them to get to them. I have called a few times and sent an email, but 4 months after my originally contacting them, I think its unlikely I'll get any information from them. So based on my experience I have my doubts that the dealer can do much for you.

    Best regards,
    Dino

    Hi guys.
I've asked directly to the Ferrari Owners web contact and they told me that yes, that the Conferma Originalità Colori now is only avalaible for carbureted models. In January the service was still available for all the models but now has changed. Sorry guys! I wanted also my certificate for my 1983 308 GTS QV...

Seems like the heritage cert verifies exterior and interior color, but Has anyone found information about manufacturing specifics as to how many in each color were produced? I am researching a 1980 308 GTSi with a rare Oro Chiaro (gold) exterior and what seems to be a special order off catalog interior Testa di Moro. Would love to find out how many of this combination were manufactured. Anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks

Copy of my post in the "3x8 by year of manufacture", just in case.

The answer is very easy: the information about colors for 308s does not exist, except perhaps at the factory, and that is not accessible. Numbers and figures usually quoted are impossible to cross-check, and the sources are almost never given, so it is worth "about nothing" except in a few specific situations for countries where the importer has archives and is willing to let you access these, such as "Maranello concessionaires" for the United Kingdom.
"Oro Chiaro" is rare indeed. "Testa di Moro" is a standard carpet color of the catalogue, certainly not a special order.

    Rgds
