Legally - max 50 mph. The road has been improved hugely I guess over the last 30 years.
We now have quite a few twin lane bypasses, (2 lanes each way).
GT to East End then to Rum Point - some nice stretches.
So yes, it is possible to exercise the engines!

Thanks for the interest. Both of us were incorrect. I had my friend Henrique Alfredo Gomes Da Costa investigate Brazil's Ferrari registrations and he e-mailed me the following data:-

    2010 - 36
    2011 - 40
    2012 - 46
    2013 - 35
    2014 - 42
    2015 - 48

With Brazil's economy tanking, I also expect 2016 to have less registrations.

Thailand had brutal car tax as well, IIRC 324% give or take a few points. I saw Ferrari's there a couple months ago. Any way to check there? I'm very impressed at the your ability to fetch the numbers, wow!! interesting.

its ironic that switzerland has the highest per capita ferrari population, and at the same time has the very most strict speeding laws in the world. its like selling the most prime beef to a bunch of vegans.

Unfortunately 'Thailand's Automotive Industry Association' site:- taia.or.th/statistics/ does not publish Ferrari registrations, but filtered data to date:-

    January - June 2015 - 12
    July - October 2015 - 6
    Total:- 18

What I like about the Swiss, is that they kicked Ron Denis to the curb, outselling McLaren 11:1

    Ferrari - 352
    McLaren - 32

Well, so that's where you got the numbers from. Then it's indeed registrations, but that's something else as sales.

As Ferrari is an upmarket car, I use the term "Registration" in lieu of "Sale".

Sites have breakdowns of individual models SOLD, e.g. the Swiss numbers mentioned above.

    AUTO-SCHWEIZ.CH

    Ferrari
    458 - 115
    488 GTB - 37
    California - 115
    F12 - 40
    FF - 30
    LaFerrari - 15
    Total - 352

    McLaren
    570S - 1
    650S - 21
    675 LT - 5
    P1 - 5
    Total - 32

That's inline with what we thought, my friend from HK has a massive database of car VIN's and knows many owners. When we were in Thailand he met a big Ferrari collector and spoke to him at length. He keeps the super cars in Europe and the production cars in Thailand for DD use. They were talking about sales and your numbers seem inline with the big guy said.

I'm super impressed with the numbers you have came up with, thanks again.

on the Swiss thing, yeah it is funny my friend in Zurich just got his Zonda, I've driven there many times and I don't go 1 km/hr over the limit. Thankfully Germany is close so its easy to go shake off the speed limit funk and open it up a bit.

Thanks for the support and encouragement Eric.

I wonder if your Friend in Hong Kong has the data for Ferrari's sold in Greater China. The data is available on a pay site:- LMC Automotive China, which I do not subscribe to. What little data I have to date for China / Hong Kong / Taiwan is as following.

    2007 - 177
    2008 - +/- 270
    2009 - +/- 350
    2010 - +/- 400
    2011 - 777
    2012 - 748
    2013 - 700

If you look at the statistics for all Passenger Cars sold during January - December 2015, Switzerland is still the leader.

    Switzerland: 319 744 - 352#
    The Netherlands: 449 351 - 30#

But in the north you have Germany, in the south Italy, and in the alpine passes not much police anyway. Add to that a good radar/laser detector and CH is not a bad places for Ferrari owners. ;-)

i will ask him, i know he has HK down cold-nothing gets past him. As for Greater China I doubt it. He knows the big Thai collector and therefore has the Thai info but it's not complete.
