Thanks! in case of electrical problems the fault can be everywhere. If you have the schematics it is fairly easy to find the fault by doing some checks and crosschecks.

 

Hi Alden, I think we can solve this one as well. If you can do some measurements on the indicator lights you can probably avoid tearing the dash apart. The symptoms indicate towards a ground problem. I don't think it has anything to do with the temporary installation of LED indicators. Are only the "lights" related indicators crazy or also the "brake" related indicators?

Just the turn signals and high/low (main/dip) headlight indicators IIRC, let me check again so I can list all the symptoms and I will start a new thread.

This was a fantastic collaboration, and that was not an obvious outcome for a short circuit, so the very methodical path was the only way to solve for what could otherwise have been very expensive parts replacement. I think most bets were on the fusebox. I can see a new reality show concept in the making here, would be a big hit!

 

Check your stalk ground wires for proper soldering before doing anything else

I am still curious about all the symptoms. Does all the external lights behave normal (headlights, stop lights, indicators, etc.)? If we know all the symptoms we can find the possible causes for those symptoms and check them. First indication for me is the common ground of the instrument lights. But we first have to know all the symptoms.

 

Update: this week i will get the electronic panel repaired and back
